Black Circle in middle of new LCD

Hello, I just bought the new LG 42in - 42LG30 model and I love it, but after three days I noticed (could have always been there) that there is a cirlce-like shape in the middle of the TV that when channels go black it is a lighter black the the surrounding area and its always the same shape and place.
There is no problems with the picture or colors or anything when a movie or tv is going, just when it goes to a black, blank screen does it show up.
So, my question, is this something I should worry about, return the tv and get a new one, normal, what???

Don't sound normal to me.

Take that puppy back and exchange it. That is NOT normal and can only lead to further problems.

Does that model TV have an adjustable backlight?

backlight issue, either by design or component failure.

See if you can find a calibration DVD or a movie with a solid color screen like red or green, freeze frame it and see if the circle persists. But I would just take it back even if it only shows up on a black frame.

To answer the questions raised so far:

It does have a backlight adjuster, but it doesn't change anything.

Also its not a black screen, the blacks are perfect, its a blank screen, like when I'm switching channels, the blank black screen that appears inbetween channels that I can see the ligter shading.

I called LG but they were completely unhelpful, said they could schedule service, but its a new tv, so if needed I'll just return it when the store finally gets another one in, they are currently sold out.

I was just hoping there was a fix or just something I'm being too picky about.

You could always return it and get another brand...

I'll never understand why people call for a repair when the TV is still under a store's return policy. Let them deal with the repair while you get a new TV immediately.

So yes, return it. I'd recommend a Toshiba, Sony, or Sharp instead.
