Still setting up / getting used to my new Samsung 46" LCD and last night the wife noticed something: when viewing TV (I just had Direct TV install HD / DVR receiver) stations in non-HD there is a very thin but noticeable fuzzy white line that changes size across the top of the screen. This only occurs when the screen size is set to "Just Scan", it doesn't appear on the other settings. Is something wrong with the set? What size do most of you guys set yours up on? thanks for any help.....Mark.

the problem is what I believe to be A Closed caption code being seen because the source of the transmission has the pic set just a bit to low we have seen lots of folks complain about this and if the OP will change channels he will notice that it does not happen on all of the stations... I notice it on 3 of my cable channels...some sets allow you to make slight adjustments to verticle and horizontal pic position.....rest assured the problem is with the source, not your set...

I would check to see if a vertical adjustment can be made to move the whole picture up slightly to eliminate on those problem channels. Losing about an 1/8 of an inch shouldn't be a problem as it will just create a slight black line across the bottom that should blend into the bezel as long as it is black.

Generally, when viewing anything other than a computer connection, Sammys should be set to 16:9, not Just Scan.
16:9 provides just enuf picture size increase to place all the signal scan lines behind the tv bazel, so we don't see all the info going on in the background of the signal delivery. |

Once again HDF saves my rear. I gotta admit this whole TV / Home theater thing has been a major pita ( I spent 3 hours yesterday fishing the rear surround speaker wires ) but hopefully when it's finished the end result will be worth it. I'm still trying to decide on which movie to watch first to celebrate, I'm pretty eager to hear the new Onkyo set-up too. Thanks again for the help guys.....Mark.
