TOSHIBA unveiled a new range of televisions for Q2 ‘08 at a spring product preview show in Ware, Hertfordshire this week.

At the show that’s been going on all week for vendors Tosh showed members of the press new series of sets in the form of the CX, XV and ZF televisions.

First up, the REGZA CV series is a step-up WXGA LCD TV, aimed at consumers wishing to upgrade from a high spec CRT or analogue LCD TV. This range will be shipping in March in screen sizes 32-, 37- and 42 inches. These boast features such as an HD-Ready 1366x768 screen resolution, a sleek gloss black finish, 3xHDMI slots and a Digital Tuner with Audio Description.

The REGZA XV series arrives on the heels of X series range from 2007, with full 1080p HD resolution at an entry level price right down to 32-inch. This will also shipping in March in screen sizes 32-, 37- and 42 inches. Feature sets here are noted as the 1920x1080 screen resolution, a gloss black finish to the case (Coo! Ed), with 3xHDMI ports, Digital Tuner and an Auto Contrast Sensor.

The above ranges have a few key features for this generation in the Luma Sens, ActiveVision, Audio Description, Game Mode and Full Power Down Mode.

The Luma Sens automatically measures ambient light conditions in the room and then adjusts the picture accordingly, which in turn enhances image quality whilst consuming less energy, apparently.

Audio Description shipping on the sets add additional commentary to scenes with no dialogue, with approximately three million people in the UK who are likely to benefit from AD also it’s being heavily promoted by the RNIB and other charities.

Game mode is a dedicated function designed for the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles for playing on HDMI, offering 1:1 pixel mapping and automatically adjusting brightness for a more realistic gaming experience.

The Full Power Down Mode is just simply a button to completely power-off the sets, basically meaning the TV’s will be consuming no power watt-so-ever – for the greener option. Toshiba did want pointing out that all LCDs, including 57” pull less than 1W whilst on stand-by anyway.

The ZF from Toshiba boasts “the worlds thinnest frame”, shipping in 40-, 46- and 52-inch screen sizes with its picture frame design in a bezel of just 23mm wide. Features accompanying this beast are Toshiba's active vision M100 100Mhz HD picture processing, dynamic contrast ratio up to 30,000:1, 3xHDMI ports (with deep colour) and full slim-line onkyo speakers to name but a few. Which Tosh believes will be the Ultimate HD performance and seeing it in action, we can see why.

Prices for these models could not be given by Toshiba as it reckons it does not issue RRPs, for reasons of promoting unfair competition. µ

Now I hear Best Buy & Future Shop will be stocking up these new Toshiba displays to replace the older versions. But they have not put the older HDTV's on a good enough sale yet. They all still cost much cheaper on Amazon.com

Go in and barter for an open box. We sold our open box 42" HL167 for about $1K.

BB hates losing money or breaking even. I got a written warning the other day for offering a deal to a customer, when those in my position are told to make deals if need be. Thing is, they never even bought anything at all.

So did you get it yet? and hows the baby?

I bought one yesterday, and will be getting it on Thursday March 25/08 Can't wait to replace my 37 inch Prima, which was a nice set till I stated to get water like stains on the left side of the screens, looks like stains on a old matress but there black and cover part of the right side of the screen aprox. 4 inches wide and half way down the screen, like black clouds, I have no idea what it is, at first a couple of months ago it was on the top part of the screen and now somehow worked its way to the right side? other that that it had a very good image.

This time around I took the extened warenty, geez cant buy a new set every 2 years lol

I hope this new 42" inch TOSHIBA looks as good as it did in the store!
just noticed it's a model # 42RV530U!

and if anybody have a clue if I am able to fix the old prima, would hate to scrap it, it does 1080P with my xbox 360! Maybye if I had the service code there might be something in there to tinker with since the set is no good anyway now.

ANY IDEAS FROM THE PROS?

Thanks

why arent more manufacturers coming up with "thin frame"..some smart advertising aimed at decor conscious gals as to the esthetics of this could reaally sell them..it got me, the 40 inch may be my next buy..

Cool It will happen

it wont be long b4 the rest Follow & Then the price wars will start, I got a amazing deal on my set thats coming in this week I was shocked when the sales Clerk gave in to cutting half the tax "Here in Quebec it like 12.5" Sales tax" Then after that I told him that he can Cut $200.00 of the sale Price because bestbuy has it at that price "I really had no clue" at first he refused then when he seen that I was getting ready to leave he gave in I am pretty sure this guy was new at his job and will most likely get in trouble for it, even when i went to the checkout and had the delivery confirmation date done, There was alot of what the F.... is this lol
all I know is I have my Bill of sale and it's coming Thursday, is it possible for once in my life I get a break
Thanks
