Default Toshiba LCDs are JUNK and a waste of money

I have been reading over and over how people love their Toshiba Lcd tvs.Little do they know that toshiba has not made Tvs in years.....

Toshiba has hired a CHEAP company from China to make them.
The name is Orion.
Many people never heard of them but they do make cheap Tvs from many UNKNOWN companys.....
Orion makes Lcds for companys like
Broksonic, Durabrand (Wal-Mart), Dynex and Insignia (Best Buy), Memorex....Yep all these cheap units.....
Orion is NOT owned by Toshiba is any ways at all.

So whoever wants to buy a Toshiba, you are buy a OEM television.

Who really cares though, some people dont have the budget to buy a big brand name unit. As long as it suits their needs and are happy with it, then I am happy for them. I have a Philips DLP and I have the sound going through a cheap REGENT surround system, yes the ones at WalMart that are like 100 Watts, that sell for $39.99. I am really happy with that. I have had that surround sound system for 3 years and it has never mised a beat

To whatever extent Toshiba may or may not (since you cited no proof of your claim) use Orion to manufacture some of their sets, there is a difference between "hiring" and "outsourcing".
The practice of outsourcing manufacturing is very common in the electronics industry and has been for decades. It is obvious that you do not understand either the concept of the principles that make it work quite well.

Your post is laughable.

I suspect that this half-assed Chinese company only makes their 32" sets. Many companies are doing that since at 32" or lower the quality matters less. I bet that their REGZA line is not made by some Chinese company and are very good products.

Their tube TVs were made by Orion for the last 10 years. What about it?

Toshiba may outsource the panels, but the internals are most likely still Toshiba or outsourced and up to Toshiba specs.

Oh, ever see an Insignia/Dynex LCD next to a Toshiba? There's a world of difference in colors, contrast, backlight, etc., all of which the Toshiba looks remarkably better. I rest my case.

I agree with Scottnot, but it begs the question? Where the %$#@ do this kinda posts come from? I have had my Regza for 5 months and talk about a beautiful TV--user friendly, and for the money-blows Sony right out of the water!!!!

2005 called, they want their thread back

They are not a Chinese company, it is a Japanese company with most of it's manufacturing plants in Thailand. You could have found that out from their website
Orion also manufactures LCD's for Sharp and other devices for Onkyo and Pioneer too, as well as all CRT Toshiba TV's. I guess those brands are also complete crap now too.... Oh yeah, they also manufacture Toshiba LCD's sized 27" and UNDER .

Most people on this forum do not care about any set that is 27" or less!
Most people on this forum that praise Toshiba own the 37"+ Regza models which are indeed built by Toshiba.

BTW

You got lucky because I bought the same thing when it came out, and after wasting my time doing a nice install, it worked barely good for a few days, sound had to be at the MAX just to hear anything, no bass, and after a few days (after watching 3-4 dvd's) one speaker blew out and died on me, I got so pissed off I destroyed it and it ended up in the trash, trust me, destroying that piece of crap was worth the $40 I lost by not returning it, it was some good relief.
I couldn't take it anymore anyway, it had no volume to it, my cheap 27" CRT tv had better sound.
Anyway, I saved some money and after a month I got this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1169512581823, which I've had for 6 months and have my 360 connected to it via digital cable and it's great. sound is awesome, bass is great, subwoofer kicks butt, I love it and it's a great value since it also upconverts regular dvd's

Not sure why people form these universal hate complexes I guess it has something to do with revenge..."I buy a new TV from Company X now TV doesnt work, so now I hate all products by Company X"... I see how it happens but its a little silly....Kinda like if a Chinese person is rude to me on the street and I form the opinion that I hate all Chinese people.....You can get a lemon in any brand even Pioneer it just doesnt happen nearly as often...

Yes Orion was the first with products for Wal-Mart way back.. Well everything comes from China today.. First it was Japan, South Korea, Taiwin and now China. There isn't much you can do about it. Just how it is.. Soon cars/trucks will be sold in the USA from China if they get their way though? Whatever you do don't buy Haier product that's a piece of crap really bad.. That also comes from China.

I think customer service is much more relevant than trying to determine the quality of a product based on country of origin.

But how you approach a mfg about a problem is also a factor. Based on the OP's reaction I suspect he was less than rational.

I contacted Toshiba with a problem in one case, and a question in another. They were very cordial. And in the first case reimbursed me for a repair to a TV that was a month out of warranty when it failed. This was a few years ago, maybe they have changed, but somehow doubt it.

Yes the Cpmpany

first off Shuanghong Display Devices Co bought and owns Orion.
Yep Orion still operates out of Japan but all their Tvs are being made in China.(Shuanghong its a great company to invest in}
Yes toshiba does out source many things,,,but toshiba has at least 50% of their own parts in their Tvs and the rest,,,,who knows?
At least if you buy a Panasonic or samsung I think you will have better peace of mind,,,I know I would.......
