If I use HDMI from HDDVD player to TV, can I take the audio (dolby/dts/whatever) from the tv's optical audio out port to my older receiver that does not have HDMI? Basically using the TV as a "pass through" for the audio? I've looked through the manual and I can't see where it addresses this issue.
or Would it be better to use component cables from HDDVD to TV and take the audio straight from the DVD player to the receiver via RCA and Digital Coax. I have read that some TV's look better with HDMI and some with component, and I'm posting this here because I figure there might be someone out there with this TV who knows which it prefers for best picture quality. I know the easy answer to this problem is to get a better (newer) receiver, but with all the purchases for Christmas...TV, XBox, HDDVD, it's not going to happen for awhile. Any insight appreciated. |
