Amen.... all those poor souls too that shelled out $3000 freegin dollars for a 1080p 40" LCD too..... sad.....soooooo sad.

1080i is the same resolution as 1080p. The progressive vs interlace thing is barely an issue on a good quality TV with proper video processing. Just get a 720p/1080i set and you can afford to get twice the size screen or just pocket the HUGE difference and go to Disneyland or something.

Ok, I'm going back to BB to take another look.Again...... I'm leaning towards the Plasma but I need to know this.. Has everyone seen the Sammy 71? I'm not a gamer and I'm more into watching DVD and movies along with SD content... More and more HD as the content appears... Panny Plasma...? Pio Plasma? I'm going to check them both... I swear those LCD's flash "you want this one" every 5th frame :-) Thanks!

I have seen the Samsung 4071 and 5281 LCD's at BestBuy. They are nice however the Pioneer Kuro plasma's have better blacks and shadow detail imo. I'm waiting also to have a look at the new LX177 series LCD's from Toshiba which are reported to be very good. I will not be buying anything Sony but hey that's just me.

I'm glad your not so one sided.. I really feel after reading through the forms that a lot of these Plasma vs LCD treads are like Ford vs Chev... A lot of times I feel people aren't really looking at the technology in a real world scenario.. You have the people that are like "Plasma is the best and always will be"... Or "LCD is so bright and clear, I can't see anyone going with plasma"! Then you have the people that are like "just go to BB and look for yourself".... Well they all are in the room with florescent light and none of them are showing any SD stuff... I tell you want.... If I walked into BB or CC and looked at the Sammy 71 next to the Pio 5080.. I would be walking out with the Sammy 71.... But after reading all the reviews and knowing I'll be watching SD content along with HD.. I think the decision has been made to go with the Plasma.. At least this time around....
