What is HD?

I got my 32" HDTV right before the super bowl. Loved it at first but now I may take it back. For the super bowl it was great but now as I watch more movies I've noticed that the picture is too dark. While watching some of the newer star wars movies I noticed I couldn't make out any detail on the darker robes. Same with dark suits on Law and Order. The person's face looks sharp etc the I can't make out the lapel, pockets etc. Instead it's just one dark mass.
The default setings are contrast 100%, brightness 45%. I set brightness up to 100% but it didn't help much. What are my options? Is this what I can expect from Samsung? Should I try a different manufacturer? Thanks |

did you try adjusting the picture settings? Also, it could be based on the picture setting you have it on. Try switching it to "Custom" and then adjusting your contrast and brightness, etc.

Unfortunately poor blacks are the bane of the majority of LCD TVs... if you boost brightness to bring out shadow detail you may have to live with greyish blacks.

Do you have the energy saving feature on high? Page 49 of your manual or the button beside the fav.ch. button on the remote. I have the same tv and turn the energy saving feature to low because the set is too bright and the blacks look better.
