Default Wall Mounting a 42" Plasma

I just got my plasma TV over the weekend and planning my set up and install - DIY. Looking to wall mount the TV on a wall with 15' cathedral ceiling in my family room 17'x24'. This may sound like a dumb question, will a wall of this height with wood studs, which are 16" on center, support my 95 lb TV and mount (as long as I install the mount into the studs - using Mustang mount MV Tilt3)?? Looking to mount no more the 40-45" from floor.

Also - do wall mounted plasmas have any issues with heat if mounted properly.

Thanks

Get a mount that spans two studs. In addition to evenly distributing the weight, you'll be able to slide the set horizontally a bit to help center it on the wall.

You shouldn't have any problems with heat.

I mounted a 130lbs. Philips 50inch on a wall with no studs. Used lots of dry wall anchors. That thing is solid as could be.

Don't Be Afraid to DIY wall mount your 40" LCD

If done properly, you should end up with a very secure mounting. Heat will not be an issue as most LCD/Plasma's are designed so that heat is dissapated through the top and bottom of the unit. Have fun!

Default Wall Mounting a 42" Plasma

Thanks to all that replied to my question. Well, I spent my entire weekend redoing my family room. 42" Sylvania 6842 PE Plasma is mounted on the wall with Mustang Mv-Tilt3 mount. Found 2 studs and use the lag bolts provided (Snapped last bolt and had to lower the mount a few inches, careful not to overtighten 2nd install). Good thing I have a tilting mount because the TV is a little higer than I would have liked, but with the option to tilt it down - looks great. Biggest problem was moving and hooking up all of my equipment - DVD Player/DVDR/DTV Tivo/Laser Disc Player!! Since my component tower is about 5 ft away (wires run horizontal) from the set - I used a 5 ft cable hider that I will paint to blend it into the wall. Didn't want to have to worry about hiding that many wires in the wall. Will take some pictures and post them later this week. Still concerned and not used to my $$ tv just hanging on the wall, but it seems to be pretty secure. Watched Raiders of the Lost Arc DVD last night and the quality of the picture was amazing!! Way better than my Mitsubishi rear projection TV that's now sitting in my dinning room!!! Also, funny thing - I never realized how low res laser Discs were compared to DVD's especially on this new set.

Thanks again!
