Is 8ms response time sufficient for high definition movies such as Blue-Ray and games?
I have a 17" Samsung LCD monitor with 8ms at the moment, and there is no noticable ghosting. so I was wondering whether on big screen TVs the ghosting is more noticable or not, if its the same then 8ms should be good. the reason i ask is I'm currently interested in Samsung LN-S4695D LCD TV. |

Most will tell you that the 72 Mhz refresh rate on PDP is far superior to an 8 ms. LCD.
Take heart - Sharp has some new 4 ms. LCD's - pretty sure.

yes I did see the Sharp Aquos 46" 4ms ; however, I've read some reviews like on CNet and some people are complaing that they have some picture problems...
PDP = ? that's why I shifted to Samsung LN-S4695D 8ms and was wondering whether 8ms will be sufficient. |

"Far superior" might be a bit strong, though.

I just seen a Samsung computer monitor with a 2ms response time. That's getting pretty fast.

Yes...PDP is definitely faster than LCDs in pixel response time regardless of the refresh rate. Whether that automatically means the OP should buy a PDP is another matter.

So 8ms should be good for DVD and Blue-Ray movies and casual gaming?

I think so...some sets like the Sony XBR2 LCD series have a "game mode" option that optimizes the screen's performance for games.
