Question LCD HDTV Motion Blur

Hi, i have a Sony Bravia 26'' Widescreen Flat-Panel LCD HDTV.

I have a question regarding my TV as well as the PS3. I have a DirecTV HD Satelite Receiver that plays nicely and mostly gets rid of what seems to be some motion blur going on. Now, I want to know if the PS3 plays "like" an HD SAT receiver, and by that i mean does it give off HD signals?(that probably doesn't make too much sense) Because when i play my playstation 2 on it, i still get some motion blur, and i believe i get that motion blur because PS2 isn't primarily focused on HD.

Also, maybe it's my settings? Does increasing Sharpness increase the Motion Blur? And if i put mine on Vivid mode(increases color quality) does that increase motion blur as well?

I'd greatly appreciate your support on this, thanks.

What is the Response time of your LCD. Most new LCDs are 8ms or 6ms for the good ones. However some of the slightly older models had a response time of 16ms or higher. If your set is a bit older and the response time is high you may see motion blur. 12ms or lower is about the bare minimum to enjoy a fast paced game without noticing a lot of motion blur.

Also try setting your game console and even your satellite reciever to 720p rather that 1080i. The progressive scan usually provides a smoother picture with less motion blur while only sacrificing minimal resolution. You probably wont even notice a bit of difference between 1080i and 720p on video games other than 720p won't blur as much.

Good luck

Remember that motion blur is also attributable to incoming signal. Some channels are worse than others. Even on my Panny plasma which technically has like zero response time I will still a little "lag" effect on some of the more compressed feeds like NBC football.

Overall though, dialing in settings and reducing sharpness helps from my own experiences.

Alright, but at the moment i am focused on my PS3 as when i'm playing it(in 720p) the picture looks great still, but when let's say i move the camera left or right to look around, i see this blur coming from everything.(Oddly enough i've learned it is more visible when it is dark IN the game, such as if i was to play a Night mission) Maybe it's my contrast? Can someone help me on putting in settings that could reduce this?
