Default How to check for dead pixels.

How do I check my new Sony LCD to see if it has any dead pixels?

Just look at the TV from close up. If there is any dead or stuck pixels, you will see them. If you don't see em, then you are good to go.

Sometimes they are tough to see with moving images. Try to hit still picture during those intervals when the whole screen is black. Better yet, if you can hook your computer up, you should be able to find several utilities that put a full screen black, white, red, green or blue image up.

Or you could send out invitations for their funerals and see if any of their relatives show up. A sure sign of dead pixels!

Haha, I like your way better. Yeah it is much better with a blank screen, like the blue no input 1. If you can't see them standing real close, your not gonna see em sitting on your chair 10 ft. away (unless there is a glob of them close to each other). I have 1 on my 19'' LCD PC monitor and only notice it because I sit 3 ft away. Luck it is up in the corner.

Most manufactures require a number of dead/stuck pixels before they fix or replace it under warranty (like 5 or more). So you ether are praying for none or wishin for more.

I found it best to stand right in front of the TV and change channels. When you change channels, the screen "usually" goes black for a second. Closely scan the screen and see if you see any non-black pixels constantly sticking out. That's how I found the 1 dead pixel my parents had. One pixel was constantly green while the rest were black.
