Does anybody have any experience with the Panasonic TH-42PD25U/P or an older panasonic edtv? I was wondering how sd broadcasts look on this set. Also, is hd programming on this tv pretty satisfactory?

Familiar with the TH-42PWD7UY (commercial version) and I must say that this unit, being an ED set, handles STB much better than the HD sets as the HD sets tend to scrutinize every anomoly broadcast via STB. Although these units do not display true HD, the HD signals that it broadcast are sharp and clean...not as clean as the HD unit would showing the same content...but very good indeed nontheless. I guess to cap it all off, if you will be primarily watching dvd's and STB, then I would go for an ED set as HD content is still a bit on the thin side. If you watch primarily HD content, you would be doing yourself a disservice by purchasing the ED unit, just my .02

See my other posts regarding my favorable experience with my PWD6UY and my viewing has evolved into HD and DVD almost exclusively.

SDTV looks great on this set, and HDTV will make you drool. I have the TH37PD25U, and primarily watch OTA broadcasts (both dig HD and SD, as well as analog) ,DirecTV (not willing to fork over all of that money just to watch 8 or 9 more channels in hi def,) DVDs, and some video games. I did a lot of research online and in stores until I settled on this TV, based on it's picture, features, and value, and I really don't think you can beat it. The only complaint I have is the color decoder is too "green strong" for my liking, but a compromise in the standard adjustments goes a long way to help. If anyone has any info on how to adjust color saturation in the service menu, please post.
