How can anyone watch standard def?

Strange problem...
Is anyone can help me to solve a very strange problem,or help me to understand it:I have Panny 37 HDTV,and I've decided to get not expensive DVD player from WAlMART,because I get DVD, send me from Russia.I check it out in the store,it worked perfectly with store's equipment(Player and HDTV),but when I connected player to my Panny it didn't work! Why? It worked in store,it work in my TV with american made disk,but not russian.Maybe the problem is-PAL not compatible?But why it worked in store with Pioner HDTV and SONY rear projection? beat me! Thank you. Henry

Thinking it has something to do with
zone blocking set up for international regions. Some players will
allow this, some will not. Am hearing there is a special code to set player for. Can sometimes be done one time for the player, possible to get player which will play Euro DVDs but then it may not play US DVDs. Learned this from Swedish friend who has an older player which will play any region and a newer player which will play only Euro. |

Strange ...
The thing is,that this DVD player works with some TV sets,but not with PANNY TH37,why?
