Let's have a look on the price of 1080p HDTV. Samsung's top 2006 series are 96 and 92. The 46" and 40" in 96 series are 1080p, all sets in 92 series are 720p.

For 40", 92(720p) is priced at $3,499 MSRP, while 96(1080p) is priced at $3,999 MSRP.

For 46", 92(720p) is priced at $4,499 MSRP, while 96(1080p) is priced at $4,999 MSRP.

The consumer has to pay 14% more for 40" 1080p compare to 40" 720p, and 11% more for 46" 1080p compare to 40" 720p.
