As you can see, sl7vk speaks quite freely about "tiers," and even addresses as a "moron" someone who questions what he means by these "tiers."

However, when it is pointed out to sl7vk that his tv actually has a resolution of only 852 x 480, and thus might put it into a lower "tier" budget category, he becomes upset and sarcastically refers to the person pointing this out as a "superior being" who is condescendingly "bashing" his ED set.
http://www.highdefforum.com/showpost...5&postcount=46

So, we can see that it's okay for sl7vk to use the term "tiers" when comparing his tv to others...but, if you assign his 852 x 480 set a "tier," then you are being "condescending."
So, he can dish out the "tier" terminology but can't take it.

Now sl7vk, why don't you just get all of this off your mind.
Get a nice, cold beer out of your fridge, sit down on your sofa and watch some SD programming on your 852 x 480 set.
Leave the HD discussions to those of us who actually own HD sets and actually view HD programming.

-Ward
This isn't what I think, but what Consumer Report writes.

And it is what this site thinks as well.

The manufacturer quality should be of more concern than the resolution of the plasma display. Purchasing a plasma from a quality manufacturer can make the biggest difference of all. I would rather have an EDTV 853X480 plasma TV from Sony, Panasonic or Pioneer than an 1024X768 HDTV plasma from lesser Taiwanese, or Korean manufacturers even for the same cost.

Quick fact for you Ward. Belgium is a country, not a region in the Netherlands!.... Here you go. Read up.

...And, with the above post, I end my repartee with sl7vk.

Both he and his petty complaining and arguing are beneath me.

Default Back to the tiers topic

I find it quite interesting that Matsushita AKA (Panasonic) has both plants in Mexico and China. How does this affect your tiers of quality(sl7vk)?

1st Tier Pioneer, Pansonic, Toshiba (Japanese Manufacturers)

2nd Tier - The Korean Manufactures, Samsung, LG, etc...

3rd Tier- The Chinese and Taiwanese manufactures.... Vizio, Maxent, etc...

Matsushita Electric shipped its first digital TVs to the U.S. under its
Panasonic brand name in August, from its border plant in Mexico. A full TV
set, with a screen and separate signal receiver, costs about $1,700--about
five times the price of an analog TV. Panasonic spokesman William Pritchard
in New Jersey says the company expects U.S. consumers to buy about 50,000
digital- capable TV sets or converters this year. But the speed at which
digital TVs become a fixture in people's living rooms remains a subject of
fevered speculation. "Broadcasters have deadlines, but consumers will have a
lot of flexibility," says Pritchard. "We've seen sales projections all over
the map."

I did a search on Panasonic AKA (Matsushita) and found out that Panasonic does indeed have a plant that manufactures plasma panels called (Shanghai Matsushita Plasma Display Co.

Hey dumshit! He's talking about Manufacturers you moron. This is a multi-national world, but Panasonic, is still a Japanese company. Just because your Camry was made in Tennessee doesn't mean that it is an American car.

Dumbass of the year award..... Techjunky!!!!!!!!!

Great! You finally decided to give your two cents worth. O.K where do I start in putting you back in place? Let's start with your comment on a "multi-national world". What are you trying to say? Yes, there are many nations in this world. Very profound! I think they teach that in 2nd grade now days. As for Panasonic, yes it is indeed a Japanese "owned" company. That was one tough one. In the tiers of quality your fellow panasonic EDTV owner(sl7vk) supplied, Panasonic was listed in the top tier. Implying that the 2nd and 3rd tier had lesser quality products because of where they are manufactured. What I supplied was a fact that Panasonic AKA(Matsushita) has plants in both Mexico and China. I believe the lowest tier listed was products manufactured in China. Not that I believe that this pretend tier of superiority exists, but that is the way it was described by(sl7vk).
Does calling me a moron or a dumbass make you feel better? I don't even have to call you a name, your posts label you perfectly.

Hey Ward, you say you've been to both Belgium and the Netherlands, but how would you know? You might have just been in Germany the whole time!!!!!! LOL. Philips assembles their TV in the Netherlands, Belgium to be exact! Wow.

Being a condesceding prick 0 dollars
Owning a flimsy Philips LCD 3000 dollars
Trip to Europe 2500 dollars
Not knowing that Belgium is a country?

Priceless!!!!!!

Dear God! It's like talking to a brick this one!

Multinational companies Einstein. Oh jeez.

Is it too cold to screw your neighbors sheep in Sparta Wisconsin right now, or did you just misplace your velcro gloves? Go back to whatever the hell you do up there, and shut your trap.

Here's a little expression that could serve you well Techjunky.

"Tis better to be perceived as an idiot, then to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."

Keep that little nugget in mind the next time you, well the next time you do anything really.

I actually prefer "brick house". I have actually been called that before. Are you ready to get banned again? Your on your way. It's kind of ironic that you refer to me as being "up there". It's hard looking down on you all the time. Maybe I should start up a tier of superiority based on where you live in the United States? Hello down there!

Ok, lcdsucks is completely out of control in true form of zxmustang, unbanned and im sure many others and hs officialy made my ignore list as well as being reported to the moderators of this forum.

I came here a few weeks ago to hopefully get some enlighenment and learn some things about HDTV. The Flat-Panel Tv forum isnt it. You people have the intestinal fortitude that only faceless cowards behind a computer screen can have yet enough is enough.

Congratulations on putting your foot down. Do you feel better? Now, take your own advise and ignore these threads. As I can see, thats something up to this point you have not been doing. You've been agruing with the best (and worst) of them. Your like the pimp that decides to become a priest and preach abstinence.

Hypocrite!
