Default ED is better

I drop in every few weeks to see what the tards are up to. FYI, I OWN the 42PX50U "HD almost" and OWNED the 42PD50U "ED" and the ED picture is equal and in one respect just plain better at 10'+. There is no argument, this is just the way it is, PERIOD, finitto, end of story..... sh... zip it.

The main difference is the brightness of the ED over the HD which is sooooooooo much better than the HD. Other than that, there really is zero difference in picture quality to the human eye at 10+ feet. Yes the pixels are bigger but I did not see the SD at 10' + so it was a non issue.

Plus there is no conversion of DVD material for the ED.

In case your wondering why I have the PX if the PD is better, it's because I could not return the PX.

Who said I was hiding behind my computer tough guy? I have been to so Cal many times and liked the area, but the people are just like you. By the way I'm married now and I would'nt be caught dead at a geek squad party like the one your supposedly having. Take care "pro"

(http://www.atsc.org/standards/a_53c_amend-1_corr-1.pdf). That standard specifically recognizes ITU-R Recommendation 1125, as published by the International Telecommunication Union, as the distinction of what constitutes HDTV versus SDTV within the DTV standard. That recommendation in turn does not even formally recognize 720P as a high def signal but it establishes the definition of "HDTV Quality" as "the delivery of a television picture, which is subjectively identical with the interlaced HDTV studio standard" which I understand has been interpreted to mean that 720P is, in fact, HDTV. But the 1280 vertical resolution, while included within the ATSC broadcast DTV standard, has never been a requirement for meeting the HDTV definition to the best of my knowledge.

Since you seem to be quite adamant on this subject and on your superior expertise on the matter, I was wondering if you could please provide a reference to whatever clarification was made to Recommendation 1125 or to where the ATSC has taken it upon themselves to abandon the international definition and declare their own standards as the sole governing policy in defining HD? Thanks.
The rest of the definition from that publication which you omitted is as follows:

"high definition television (HDTV) – High definition television has a resolution of approximately twice that of conventional television in both the horizontal (H) and vertical (V) dimensions and a picture aspect ratio (H × V) of 16:9."

The lowest convential television resolution (SD) is 480 X 640 in a 4 X 3 aspect ratio. So, do the numbers as outlined in the above definition taking into consideration the 16 X 9 aspect ratio. The chart I posted in post #96 has the answers based on the above information. You can decide for yourself what is HD.

The bottom line however, is whether or not YOU are satisified with what YOU have.

All of the discussion and comparing of LCD to Plasma and whether ED is as good as HD or which brand is better is a totally subjective subject. As I said earlier, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Is there some sort of status thing going on here? Personally, I am happy with what I have and I hope you are happy with what you have. Lets move on.

What the hell does you being 6'3" mean. That you are a big tough guy. When I say to someone they hide behind a monitor. This basically means in person they would never say such things. Everything I post or say I would say to anyone in person. Your the guy that drives like an ass and then in person he's the nicest guy.

I can just see you as a two face.

I never said I am tough or I would try anything.

I am also married with children. But hay, I can look. And no dumbass we don't have to pay for girls.

I officially grant thy new name change to Techjunky

new name

The "DUMBASS"

so from now on everybody when you respond to DUMBASS (previously known as Techjunky)
Please give him the respect he has earned on this forum and call him what he is The "DUMBASS"
