Zedd, I told you these guys get nasty. I'm pretty sure this guy used the old "mary jane" reference on me in another thread. What's wrong with the happy grass anyway? Maybe we can see something this guy does'nt. Mind expansion?lol

Actually you must ask yourself a question, (are you qualified to respond to HIGH DEFINITION related matters)"
I think not!!!

I remember reading someplace that your PLASMA Penny is actually an EDTV, right?

Your statement "Westinghouse is superior to Panasonic now" was not sarcasm as i first thought, my appologies. you were indeed bowing before a superior product.

The whole point of the article was to say "Hey 24 months ago LCD really couldn't hold a candle up to what Plasma offered" but now that gap has closed termendisly, and with the 2005 fall offerings from Sharp and Sony that gap has closed up a little more.

With the Next Gen of LCD's due out late March sum 3 months or more ahead of the next Gen of Plasmas you may see that LCD has caught up to Plasma and may even better it in some areas.

Most of the arguments sournding LCD are old and many of them really don't apply to todays LCD panels. I'm sure that with the next Gen of Plasmas will come new improvements, but for someone to say that LCD will never equal Plasma is just plain silly.

Who said that? LCD is narrowing the gap, but there remains a gap....

However, the majority of PDP TVs in the market today deliver Enhanced Definition (ED) resolution of only 850 by 480, i.e. 0.4 megapixel, and full HD resolution is not likely to become available in 42-inch PDP TVs due to pixel-size limitations. In fact, we know of only one very large and very expensive PDP, a 71-inch model, on the market today that supports full HD resolution.
I’m no expert here, but this statement seems false. Isn’t it true that most PDP’s sold are full HD, offering 720p resolution? And isn’t the 42 inch PDP already the most popular size? And doesn't any plasma above 42 inch sold today support full HD resolution?

Nope... in fact most panels less than 50" don't meet the minimum HD spec of 1280 x 720 or better... 1024 x 768 is common in the small sizes.

Yes indeed there is a gap, and it's bigger than you think. It just so happens that it's between your ears. I 'm sorry buddy, you left yourself wide open on that one! Please don't attack me! Just adding a little humor.

Well, I still have a problem with the article’s statement. I would imagine that all popular 50 inch plasmas today are 1280x768 making them full HD, so I don’t know why the article says only a 71 inch supports full HD resolution.

Furthermore, most 42 inch plasmas with 1024x768 resolution, the most popular size, are sold as HD models, not ED. Maybe that’s not “full” HD, but the article’s statement appears to be misleading by excluding all of them.

The real point you are all missing is that DLP, PDP, & LCD all SUCK none of them can touch a CRT. That is why almost all broadcast monitors are CRT's.
But the most important thing is that the signal you are getting is total crap so the best your monitor can reproduce is crap. If you were to look at a real HD signal (not the crap that comes off the air) you could see how bad all of these displays look.

Carry on.

I can only imagine this ZEDD guy . You must believe that a civic with stickers and exhaust is just as good or better then driving a Viper, Vette or any of the big dogs because it creates a loud exhaust sound. Your system speaks for itself "Bose" , "westinghouse" I would maybe get that set-up for my sons room to play xbox.

I have a PDF file that a third party research group did on LCD, Plasma and Rptv's. And of course plasmas came out ahead. Yes I do have a small lcd in my kitchen and yes I have sold a bunch of them to people just like you. Your the person who heard from a friend who heard from another friend who's uncle heard some guy say that LCD's and westinghouse is the best.

Keep driving your civic and remember your civic is just as good as my vette.

this is turning out to be some kind of "War of the HDTV's" or something...holy crap lol...funny how hardly anyone mentioned "EDTV's"... alot of plasmas that i've seen are just that..EDTV's...it tricks the consumer into thinking they are buying a HDTV plasma 42" for $1700 LOL!! read the fine print lady AHAHAH, here in Canada those HDTV 42" plasmas are hardly afordable.. today i was at Sears & futureshop..boy i tell ya i wont pay $3500 for a 42" HDTV plasma..compare that to a 42" EDTV plasma which sell for less then $2500 up here LOL.. crazy difference eh..

When I first found out that you can donate plasma and actually get paid for doing it, I bought out my local Best Buy of all their plasma and went to cash them in. To my dismay, they said they were'nt worth the boxes I brought them in. I knew it sounded to good to be true! lol lol
