Default 40 inch Bravia Has A Lousy Picture

I was NOT impressed with the picture on the Sony Bravia Lcd HDTV 40 inch XBR1 and the Bravia 32 inch XBR1 when I saw them in person tonight at circuit city. But the 26 inch Bravia XBR1 was FANTASTIC ! It had a sharp and clear picture.WOW !

Default Wear glasses

I guess that's why these TVs are selling so well because the PQ is "lousy". I saw these same TV at one CC and the PQ were suboptimal. At another CC and at Sears, BB, Fry's they were just rippin'. Trust me it's not the TVs. The SONY Bravia XBR in any inch is "FANTASTIC".

The Bravias on display at a Magnolia showroom were stunning. I don't think you can rely on CC's display to determine if these TVs are good. Like BB and GG...they are very rarely ever properly calibrated...unfortunately.

Default 40 inch Bravia Sharpness Settings

I tried to use the tv remote to make the picture sharper and the remote was so complicated I could'nt find the sharpness settings..on top of that..the customer service guy tried also and HE could'nt find the sharpness settings either! I believe what all of you are saying that this tv looks better than what I saw...but no one there at circuit city seemed to know how to even work its remote..they also tried it manujally on the tv..still could'nt find the settings for sharpness !

I have seen this Tv art CC and Best Buy and PC Richards and I have had it put nest to The Sharp Aquoas...and whatever Sony is doing..It blows the other LCD'S out of the water..only thing close was toshibas...the 32 inch XBR is clearer than the 40...I believe this has to do with the size..the smaller the screen the more pixels at 1360 + 780 will be crammed on the screen...sony should have upped the pixels for the 40 inch, but nothing comes close to the 32 inch set...not even CRT...

Actually,I looked at all three Sony Bravia XBR1 models and the one that blew the other ones away was the 26 inch.Damn, what a GREAT PICTURE ! I wanted to buy it right there, but the salesguy who looked to be in his late teens or early 20's told me I had to order it or pick it up at a store that was 10 miles away.If I ordered it ,it would take a few days. Then I said to him..What if I buy the floor model? He said no,floor models are only told when we are just about out of that tv.
By the way, this was at CC in Santa Monica.I was'nt too impressed with the place, first time there.I felt unwelcomed and it just had a negative feel to the place. All the guys who worked there were wearing football shirts-I guess CC is promoting the football game that was on tv this weekend in connection to the sale of directv there.

I did'nt buy the tv yet..am debateing with myself whether this great 26 inch Bravia for mom or to buy 3 lesser quality brands of lcd HDTV's tv's for my mom and the other family members for Christmas. I was at CC for 2 hours last night and could'nt make up my mind !
a lesser quality Lcd HDTV
The lesser quality HDTV's are going for $499 to $699 up...they have a 2 comb filter-instead of a 3 comb filter and are less in resolution than the better quality HDTV's.And some of them have built in dvd players.Fantastic prices !
Great part is I can fit the tv's in the back

Yup. Agree. BB had a Magnolia Showroom. I walked into a Cambridge Soundworks today (at the mall shoes) and the SONY Bravia XBR 40" there was tearing it up. It must be because as someone on this forum is claiming and guys at CC and BB are saying (so it must be true) that Samsung makes SONY's LCDs

Default Just bought the Bravia 40'

So I just picked up this model and its outstanding, however...the black detail is poor at best. It just seems that all darks blend together. I haven't really played with the settings too much, so I was hoping that one of you might have a better idea of how to set it up. The color and brightness are amazing in most everything else though like sports and nature, but the poor dark detail almost makes me want to return it and get a panny plasma. Any thoughts?
