Default Stuck Between a rock and a hard place

Ok so its been awhile since I have been on this forum but I need some advice. I recently lost my one year old Panasonic 60ut50 to a defective panel and stupid best buy will only give me store credit for what I payed for the tv. With Panasonic not making plasma tvs anymore I was pretty much forced to get the Samsung 7100 led tv. The first one had an issue and I spent two days hating the next one with a passion so I took it back again.

I now had to buy the Samsung 60f5300 so I could have a plasma and got it for 848 so not a bad price. Got it home, hung it up, let it warm up for a couple hours while I prepped the area, turned it on and set it up and started to turn stuff down and it fuzzed out purple now there is a solid white 3 inch bar running across the top of the screen nothing is getting rid of it.

They will give me another one but should I try the same tv? Anyone out there own this same model? keep in mind I hate all things LED, im a plasma fanboy all the way and I need this tv to work for at least 3 years until new tech comes out. Any advice would be appreciated as always.

If it were I, I would take the store credit and apply it to a Panasonic ST or VT television. They are still readily available and can be found discounted at some sellers. Those two have unbeatable picture quality, and the fact that Panasonic will not be making them isn't a reason for not buying one while you can still get it. Just my take.

Thanks for the reply rbto unfortunately there are 0 Panasonic TVs available aside from the Zt which is way out of my price range. Not buying one because they are stopping is not my reason for not buying one they simply don't exist in my area and I can't order one online. Thus my problem. I would have the vt if I could find one for sure, bb absolutely refuses to give me real money even though I payed real money for the tv. BB kinda sucks in that way but at least I'm not stuck with a broken ass TV.

I am having the exact same issue. My Penny 55GT30 crapped out after 2 years and now the warranty company won't fix it only issue me store credit. Most LED's make me sick due to the SOE. I know I know it can be turned off on most units but the can lead to other PQ issues. Any suggestions, aprox $1200 to spend.

The Samsung f7100 that they told me was amazing was a piece of trash I had to go down to a 55 and it was 1600 dollars and my Panasonic was 3 times the TV that thing ever hoped to be. I also have about 1200 dollars so if this Samsung plasma works then I will use the rest towards an Xbox one. I really miss my panasonic though, I feel your pain man.

I may go with the Sony KDL55W802A, the reviews are decent and I would only be a few hundred over the credit. The 900A gets great reviews but I can't justify the amount when it's a technology I don't love. The LG 55GA7900 was also a consideration until I learned 1080p is only over component.

I have been out of the game for a bit but I didn't realize you could get 1080p through component. Anyway I picked up the 5300 and this one works it does some quirky crap like not going to media by hitting the button on the remote and having to actually switch the source to usb. Not a deal breaker but slightly annoying and could very well be a firmware issue or maybe just a bug. I used some settings from avs and the picture is good still have some tweaking to do though. For 850 dollars you can't really beat it, running break in slides right now and played some video games on it last not and did not notice any input lag, the led was way worse in that respect

Why did you go to an LED LCD? Samsung still makes plasmas. They are better than their LED LCDs.
