so i just purchased the vizio m3d470kd smart led 3d tv 240hz. I purchased this tv 2 weeks ago and noticed when im watching espn or live football games i can see like motion blurr. When i see espn analists move i can see some blurryness with the hands and face. Also when i watch football whenever the quarterback thrwos the football the ball is blurry. i tried messing with the settings and all but not sure what to do. I would like to know if this is normal? is there something wrong with my tv? when i watch blu rays i dont really see motion blurr. I would apprecieate if anyone could help me out thanks

What type of video input are you using? Cable, HDMI, Component, composite?

The blur, ironically, is caused by the Smooth Motion Effect. To fix it, adjust the setting, I have mine turned off. The setting is under the "advanced" picture settings menu. My advice: play around with all the settings to see what effect each has, you can always return to the factory settings if you mess things up!

Turn off smooth motion and the traces / blur you see should disappear, also, TV shows will look more like they were shot on film, as opposed to video, unless you prefer that look.

You are likely seeeing the effects of video compression which is inherent to some extent with all broadcast/cable/satellite TV sources. Not sure how Direct TV compares to OTA or Fios, but you will see compression artifacts even with the best broadcast sources. Not much you can do other than sit further away from the TV or watch on a smaller screen. The 120/240 hertz settings on TV's will not really help reduce what is already in the source. The better the TV, the more you will see the artifacts.

Video compression artifacts usually appear in the form of "pixilization", not the blurring of a moving ball or hand. I own this exact same TV and had the same problem until I turned smooth motion off. Do some searching for "the soap opera effect" and you'll learn a bit about how the 240 hz works, and how it can affect your picture.

I'm beginning to think the problem is with the viewer, you say everything else looks fine, therefor, it's safe to assume everything IS fine. If you're not sure, I suggest you bring the set back, or hire a tech to check it out. I think on-line help may be beyond your comprehension level.
