Question Sharp Aquos 45"LCD vs Panasonic 50" Plasma

I'm considering buying either Sharp Aquos LC45GD4U or Panasonic TH50PX500U and I need answers to several questions about each.

Sharp Aquos:
1.PC mag. says 1080p is not supported by HDMI or DVI interface. Is that important? Do I still get 1920 by1080p via component interface?
2. Where is the port for Photo JPEG cards? Does it need an adapter of some kind for?

Panasonic Plasma:
1. I read somewhere that Pana. is coming out soon with 1080p resolution in model 50PX500. Does anyone know if true and when?
2. Is noise a problem on this model?

the sharp pc card slot is on top of the unit, you need to get a universal pc card to smart card adapter (about $10-20)

Panasonic has a better picture. Do a side by side comparison.

I had the opportunity of comparing the Sharp to my Pioneer- side by side- the Pioneer blew it away in picture quality.

Don't get hung up on 1080P, there's nothing in that format yet.

In August Matsushita announced that the TH-65PX500 scheduled to release Nov 01 in Japan would be Full HD at 1080p. Expect US release in about Spring 2006 (my calculations). Very true there is no 1080p material yet but guarantee you 100% as others on this forum can vouch, 1080p displays will show 1080i and 720p material better. A Porsche could hum in 3rd gear going at the same speed as a Hyundai and be smoother.

As for Sharp LCD vs. Panasonic or even Pioneer Plasma? You will need to judge for yourself. The Sharp has a better resolution and higher contrast ratio (sharper picture with more detail) but the Panasonic and Pioneer Plasmas have more vibrant colors. I prefer the Sharp LCD. However, the colors of the Plasmas are gorgeous.

at my circuit city we have a samsung 1080p and the new sony sxrd with 1080p display. despite what others may say about no format support these televisions have a flat out amazing picture. on the 67" samsung you can stand as close as you want and the picture still looks better than non 1080p televisions.

Thanks. I didn't see it. This refers to the PC card slot.

I haven't seen either Samsung or Sony 1080p. Are they plasma or LCD and where is your Circuit City store?

I have the Aquos 45" with the ACV (it is the X version of the model) and it is a 1080p unit that can accept 1080p signal via the DVI port on the ACV unit
