Default Sharp Aquos 80" ócan't turn off Motion Enhancement

I'm unable to turn off Motion Enhancement — I can select "Off" but I assure you, it's still on. There is no firmware update available.

Under "Motion Enhancement" are options for:
  • 120Hz High
  • 120Hz Low
  • Off

Under "AV Mode" are many options, but Game mode doesn't allow for 120Hz at all, so that's the only way I can truly turn off Motion Enhancement. As a secondary problem though, only "Movie" mode seems to have acceptable noise (it seems like terrible compression artifacts, even on Blu-ray). I've calibrated using a THX disc and glasses So unless I can fix the noise problem, I need to stick with Game mode.

Any help *greatly* appreciated.

OK, I'm an idiot. It's Film Mode that I wanted to turn off. My apologies for answering my own question.

Heh. Thanks.

Now if I could just figure out the noise issue. This isn't just a case of "noticing more compression because it's bigger."

ryan, I am having the same problem with my Sharp Aqous 80". Does turning off "Film Mode" solve the motion enhancement issue for you?? Please let me know. Thanks!

I'm not certain it does fix it. I think it's definitely important to turn it off, as it's definitely improved. But I feel like I get the "film mode" effect sometimes even when it's turned off. If you find the same issue, would you please let me know here? Thanks.

Sometimes if the source material was shot on video instead of film that annoyance persits regardless due to the nature of the original.
