Default Am I Stupid???

Hey ya'll, I'm a fairly intelligent person who is tech savvy and work in the IT industry, but for some reason I can't figure this out. I recently purchased a 50" Panasonic Viera TC-P50G25 plasma TV and I need to hook up mu Sennheiser RS120 wireless headphones. I've tried every jack on the TV, shut off TV speakers, but I still can't get them to work..Please help!!

Think you are going to need some type of adapter, I had a 42" G25 for a little over a week but never tried to hook up speakers to it, don't remember it having RCA audio out.

If you can't get an adapter you can get the audio out of a Blu-Ray/DVD player at least or take that TV set back.

According to the specs for the g25 on Panasonic's web site, it does not appear to have either analogue "audio out" jacks or a headphone jack, so you cannot connect the "transmitter" of your Sennheisser RS120 set directly to the TV.

However, if you have a receiver with optical digital audio inputs then you can connect the digital audio out of the TV to the reciever with an optical TOSLink cable and connect the Sennheisser "transmitter" to the the receiver's headphone jack. This is the method that I use with my Sennheisser RS140 wireless headphones.

BTW, you are not stupid. It was Panasonic that incorrectly decided that analogue audio out was no longer needed on their TVs. They're the dummies (along with the other manufacturers who have done the same thing).

The only audio output on that TV is the optical/toslink jack. For wireless headphones (or a sound bar etc) to work with this TV they would need to have (A) an optical/toslink cable and (B) it's own volume control.

I assume your RS120 has only analog male RCA connectors since you plugged it into all the inputs on the TV so if the RS120 has it's own volume control, one possible solution is to get a digital/optical-to-analog adapter such as this Gefen unit:

Assuming that you are using a DVR or HD cable box and dvd player with left/right analog audio outputs a cheaper way to go is to get an A/V switch which will accept 4 or so old style left/right RCA audio cable inputs and output them into a single L/R audio output . I was in a similar situation and that solution worked to perfection . Got mine for about 22 bucks from Radio Shack , amazon also sells them - both manual switching (push button on the box) and by remote control . Mine is push button , but since it's on the DVR (tv sound) most of the time I rarely have to get up to push the button to switch the input to the blu ray player .
