Default No Sound on LG TV with HDMI cable

I am getting good video but there is no sound on TV after connecting with HDMI cable with either CABLE BOX or BLURAY player via RECEIVER. The sound is coming only on Home Theatre speakers. There is no sound on TV. The only way I need to adjust sound is use Receivers remote to increase/decrease Home Theatre speakers. If I use TV remote to adjust sound nothing happens. I heard that the TV sound can also be adjustable with HDMI.

If I connect HDMI cable directly to BLURAY player without RECEIVER in between the TV sound is working. But in this case I cannot use Home Theatre speakers.

By the way the CLOSED CAPTION feature is also not working with HDMI.

Is this receivers problem? Below are the details.

Receiver ONKYO TX-SR608

TV LG plasma 60PK950

BLURAY LG BD530

Thanks

Default No Sound on LG TV with HDMI cable

Just found out the issue with the Receiver TX-SR608. Under the "Hardware Setup"---->"HDMI"----->"Audio TV Out" there is a ON and OFF for TV audio. By default it is OFF. If I set it to ON the sound is coming from TV speakers. I cannot put both TV and Home Theatre speakers ON at a time. Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions on this.

Just use the receiver for all sound. Get a Harmony remote to turn everything on and change inputs with the push of one button for the activities you do like Watch TV, Watch movie, etc.

I run component cables to my TV for the times I want to just listen to the TV and not the AV receiver. One "INPUT" selection on the TV remote and you're done!

Doc, you're going to confuse these guys. Remember they want their TV speakers and the receiver BOTH to have sound-- now they are going to think your Component cables carry a sound signal.

Default No Sound on LG TV with HDMI cable

Thanks guys for your suggestion. Right now I am turning off the TV sound and listening to Home Theatre speakers. But still the CLOSED CAPTION feature is not resolved. If I play the DVD the subtitles are coming on TV (maybe this has nothing to do with Closed Caption) but when I use HD CBL/SAT box the CLOSED CAPTION feature is not enabled on TV.

Do you think if I run separate Audio (composite/compnent) cables from CBL/SAT HD box to TV directly that will fix it? Since HDMI also sends audio to TV which audio will dominate? HDMI or Composite?

I do have the composite cables but the length is not sufficient. I wanted to check with someone before I buy longer cables.

Thanks

Home Theatre setup:

LG plasma 60PK950
Definitive Technology procinema 800 speakers
Onkyo TX-SR608 receiver

CC only works with analog SD connections to TVs. You need to enable CC in your cable box if you want HD. Sounds crazy but they are all like that.

You probably need to set HDMI sound in some menu on the mac.
