Default Visio intermittent Black screen but I have sound

I have a Visio 47" TV. 18 months old. The screen went black, but the sound still works. I turned it off and unplugged it for 5 minutes. When I turn it back on the TV works for about a half an hour and then it go's black again. The picture starts to get fuzzy and it crackles right before it turns black. So far I just turn it off for a couple of minutes and I can get anywhere from 10 - 30 minutes of viewing before it go's black again. Any ideas about what part might be bad and where I can purchase a replacement part? MODEL # VL47OM
Thanks Rich

There's definitely a component failure there, but I'm sure you'll have to provide more information (at least a model #) in order to get help. I'm not sure how many people on here own Vizio's or have experience with these kinds of problems, but the people here are generally quite helpful with any information they can provide.

It sounds like the infamous capacitor problem that many displays seem to be having like this.

I am looking on Ebay and found lots of parts for this model at a reasonable price. I am hoping someone here can narrow down my problem and give me advice as to what part I may need. i am an electrician but electronics are not my forte. Assume you are talking to a novice. Some think it may be a power supply or capacitor problem. I just need little more specifics. Any help would be much appreciated. thanks Rich

Unplug the power to the TV and take the back off. Then look at the capacitors and see if any of them are swelled on the top which should be flat. If any are not flat they are bad and need to be replaced.

I'm gonna stay posted on this one... I have a 50" with no pic no sound and nothing wrong, visibly with by boards. I need a service manual but google didn't find me one.
