Question Pioneer KRP-500M audio connection

I have a Marantz receiver with no HDMI's, just a ton of plugs on the back of it. What can I use to connect the 500M to my Marantz receiver in order to get audio? I will be connecting my sat receiver to the 500M via HDMI. Thanks

Just run the Sat box directly to the receiver via optical.

Just to double check, take optical cable and plug it into the digital output on the satellite receiver and then I plug the other end into my digital in on my Marantz AV receiver?

On my present plasma (46G15), I run the optical cable from the Plasma to the Marantz AV receiver

So you can actually do either or? run optical cable from plasma directly to Marantz AV receiver or run optical cable from satellite receiver to Marantz AV receiver??

It is my understanding that by going display to receiver you only get 5.1 surround using the displays tuner. aka OTA reception. Sat box to receiver will give you the 5.1 you seek..could be wrong, I have been wrong before, and I will undoubtedly be wrong again......OOOOhhhhhhuuuummmmmm.

As Papplap states below, if you want Dolby Digital 5.1 sound you need to go from the source device directly to the receiver or else you will get 2 channel stereo that your receiver will matrix back to a lesser 5.1 simulated output.

The only sources that nearly all HDTVs output over it's optical output is OTA (antenna) or possibly a cable service direct 75ohm connect from the wall jack (bypassing the cable STB).

You are correct.
Thank you very much. Since my PS3 is HDMI, I will have to go optical on PS3 to optical via Marantz AV receiver for audio right? HDMI for video and optical for audio, all because of the 500M's build I take
