Default I think I kill my new TV....

I just got a new TV over the weekend p50g10. I am not sure how many hours I watch already but I think around 40 hrs or so but I dont know for sure (Is there a way to check?)

Anyway I was watching some movie and I left to go cook. The movie ended and switch to TV show (Lost) with black bar on the left and right. I left it there for around 50 minutes in. When I realize what happened, I ran to the TV and immediately switch to my DVD player to watch a movie on full screen. As I was switching, I can see the 2 black bar on the no signal screen for a brief moment. After about 10 minutes of watching the slideshow of color background DVD that I made, the black bars dissapeared though I am still worry that I got too stress out that I am telling myself I dont see it anymore but it still there...

Did I screw up and kill my TV? Should I go return this TV to bestbuy and get a new one? Please advise...

I left it there for close to 1 hour of some random TV show with black bars while I was cooking. What I mean is the black bar dissapeared after about 10 mins of me watching my slideshow DVD but im still worry...

Would you really do that? Wouldn't you care about the next guy, like me, who may end up buying something YOU could have messed up?

Classy.

I don't understand people who can't take blame for their own mistakes.

I wouldn't buy something that's "open box" for exactly this reason. You're asking for trouble if you do.

What mistake? It's simple image retention. Nothing that won't take care of itself. If it's blatant consumer damage, hopefully the retailer will recognize it as such and will not take the tv back. Furthermore, a retailer with any creedance will advertise open box and returned items as such. Caveat emptor.

Not really. And a lot depends upon the retailer. Bought more than a few factory "refurbs" meself and have not had a lick of trouble. Bottom line - know whom you are buying from and what you are buying. A little consumer research can save you a lot of headaches,,and a lot of money.
