Default 6 to 8 Feet from TV, 50 inch too big?

If I get either the TCP50S1 or TCP54G10 will a 6-8 foot viewing distance be too close for such a large screen. Have a cutaway in living room to kitchen so you can view from it as well but primary distance is 6-8 feet.

Not in my world. Those are my approximate viewing distances and I have a 50" Panasonic. In fact, a year ago when I bought it, I"m still kicking myself in the rearend for not getting the 58". My next door neighbor has the same viewing space, but he bought the 58", and live sports on his set are even more spectacular.

No, for most people that will fit nicely. Hopefully most of your viewing will be HD though, because SD pogramming will look horrible for the most part at a TV that size and at that viewing distance..

Just like how Gregory said it in The Guns Of Naverone. "Rember I speak German, Perfect!"

Thumbs up 50" Panny

Not at all !! I have a 50" Panny, and sit 8' away. I plan on getting a new 54" in a couple of months because the 50" now seems a bit small.

At 6-8', 50" is definitely not too large. I sit approximately 9' from the screen and was looking at a 46 until I was convinced that it was too small based on opinions from others on this site.

I eventually purchased a Panny 54S1 and think it is perfect for my distance. I could even have gone a little larger.
