Bravia Remote Code

Hello all, We recently purchased a Sony Bravia (model #KDL-40VL-160) from our local Costco store and we are trying to set it up with our Comcast cable remote. The problem is that we need the remote code for the TV in order to get the Comcast remote to work. I have looked around in the manual and on the internet and have found all the information I could ever want about getting the Sony remote to interface with peripherals, but not with getting the Comcast remote to interface with the TV. Sony does not currently list the remote code for this model on their website. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know what the remote code for this model is?

Any help appreciated!

You need to look at the manual for the cable box remote for the codes to get the cable box remote to control the Sony TV. Not the other way around. The codes listed in the Sony TV manual are to use the SOny remote to control the cable box not the other way around.

Always include the brand/model of ALL devices involved to get more complete and faster help. Comcast uses MANY differnt model/brand boxes around the country so they are not all the same.

Thanks for the quick Reply. We tried your suggestion, but the codes provided in the cable controller instructions are either incorrect, or the cable box only has partial functionality (we're only getting partial functionality with the remote). If they are incorrect, does anyone have the correct code? The cable box is a Motorola DCH3200 and the remote is a Comcast Custom DVR 3 Device.

You might better off trying to get the Sony HDTV remote to control the cable box by using the codes for that remote. That is one thing that always kept me away from Sony. Their remotes are geared for only working smoothly with other SONY products like they are trying to force you to go SOny only for everything.

ANother alternative is to get a good universal remote. I have 3 Harmony remotes and my family loves the one button activity modes that does every change (inputs, turning on/off, etc) with ONE button push when you change from say Watch TV to Watch Movie. My then 5 year old could run my whole HT system with it and so can my mother.

+1 for the Harmony Remotes, I'm loving mine (and even the GF commented on how easy it is). Now if they just made one with motion controls so it could double as a wiimote.
