judder in video games on plasma?

what causes this?
I was playing fable II and Gears of War 2 on my panny G10 through my xbox 360 last night and I noticed when I move the camera around fast I get judder...

is this just a frames per second thing? I know alot of games don't run at 60 fps, they try to aim for a solid 30 fps so that it doesn't encounter slow down...

is that just how it is for a game that runs on a lower frames per second count? anybody else get this?

Explain what you mean by judder, that is exactly what you are seeing.

judder..same thing as people complain about on certain film based sources.where fast panning doesn't look smooth....best way I can think to describe it....at least that's what I think judder is....not motion blur...that's different as far as I understand it..

trying to use the correct lingo here =)

or maybe it's considered 'flicker'? I'mnot quite sure of the nomenclature....I just thought it was called judder

sometimes I'm about ready to go back to a CRT and a VCR

On some older FPS games (when I used to play) like Halo and going back to Golden Eye, (this is pre-flat screen)I remember the background would go blurry when I moved the camera and return to normal when i was stationary.

I figured this was to improve FPS and prevent the chop from happening on the console. This never happened on any FPS games for the PC even playing the same game. With a PC however, if your game settings were too high you lost FPS and it got real choppy.

Maybe it's a similar situation and the software is programmed to blur the background in order to save FPS and prevent chop?

Try on an old TV and see if you still get the background blur would be my suggestion.

What you are describing sounds like when my gaming PC has it's graphics card setting set to high causing the picture to sort of drag a little, some games are limited to 30 (fps) on consoles. If you are sitting to close, try sitting a little further away. Are all games having this issue and what mode are you playing in?

Kinda curious about what the "judder" issue would be for the 360, since I play GOW 2, Halo 3, Halo 3 odst, and madden nfl 10. Even though I do most of my gaming on my 21.5 lcd downstairs, I'd love to take my 2nd 360 I have an hook it up to the new HD set.

I used to notice this on alot of games on my rear projection as well....I guess the true test would be to run a game that doesn't do it at all..something that I know runs at a rock solid 60 fps, like COD4

I think it's just the 30 fps issue that's doing it...
some games try to maintain a solid 30fps so they can cram as much detail into the textures and animations, etc as possible..which results in the lower frame rate

I know for a fact that Oblivion for the 360 is limited to 30 (fps) and doesn't look as good as the PC version running at 60+ (fps). Consoles my appear to be superior, but there not!

I'm a console guy..always have been, always will be

gimme a controller and a gigantic TV over a mouse and keyboard in my office any day of the week..lol

anywho, it's really just poor performance on Fable II's part...cool game, but disappointing on several levels...
