Seems that no matter who you talk to you get a different answer so I decided to come to a forum and ask for opinions and help. So far I have found the best prices at accessories4less plus I got my marantz there in 2007 and told them about the issues so they are offering me a free additional 5 year warranty on any avr that I buy. I had intended on keeping it below 1000 bucks which put me around sr 7005 and sr7007 or onyko 1009 but then started looking at some other more expensive ones and actually had a 5009 bought off ebay for 900 bucks and he backed out of it so had the idea I was getting this sweet system so now looking at a new well referb 5009 or a denon 4311 as referb is no big deal with having the free 5 year warranty I will have on it. So now let me tell u what I want to do and you tell me if I am going over board with a system and a cheaper one will do what I want as any of these are way better than the sr7500 that I had. I have all polk audio speakers a center two fronts two rear and two rear surround so 7 speakers set up with two rear behind and two rear surround in the ceiling. all of them arent top but good ones rti8 side csi3 front fxi3 rear and cant remember the flush mount ceiling ones but were around 500 for pair pretty sure they were in line with the others for same range. also a psw350 sub. So that is my tv room setup for speakers. I have a 65 inch Panasonic versa 3d tv plazma. I have a ps3 I use for dvd and blue ray one of the newest ones I also have a new sony 3d blue ray I could use if needed but it is upstairs in my master bedroom now but I think the ps3 will play anything I need to in blue ray and 3d if I want to use that. I have att uverse for my tv and internet and have a pretty good speed not top of the line but not near the bottom either I think extreme or one down. I have laptops tablets and iphone so all the stuff for apps and music on my phone. I am considering adding one or two speakers out side by my pool and if I can one upstairs in the master and one in the back of the house hallway so can hear music all over the house. that is pretty much the gist of it all and what I want to do. I like to watch movies music every now and then like at pool or cleaning the house but mostly is the tv watching movies. So I need something with a lot of channels for the surround and ability for more zones. I need to have hdmi switching for 3d tv and fast for ps3 with games. Ability to hook I phone or tablet up for music which almost all of them have it now. I have xm in my truck and car so that would be nice to have on it and wifi or ability to hook it up. seems most higher end ones will have the same or very close options so now which one to get. I was weary of even considering another marantz as my sr7500 died 2 months out of the box and never was right after repairs by plaza electronics in largo florida the authorized dealer that they told me to send it to for repair. But having a 5 year warranty on anything I buy I did look at the sr7005 and sr7007 but neither are 9.2 so figured they are off the table. A friend at work has a onyko 1009 and loves it so was thinking about that one but after almost having the 5009 and seeing the features it has I feel stepping back to the 1009 is the wrong way to go. then I read many people having customer service problems with onyko under the factory warranty and also some heat and reliability issues so I then looked to the denon models specifically the 4311 as it is at the top of my price range at 1300 for the refeb at accessories4less. there is one more a 4520ci but do I need all that as seems the 4311ci is very close in options and it is a few hundred more but it is also on the table. I dont see any other ones that have caught my eye but if you know of one that will suit my needs and around that price range I am all ears. I am going to rely on what I get out of everyone as most companies I talk to wont put there finger on a favorite but I have read the most good reviews on the 4311 not one unhappy owner. I have seen that some onyko owners have said it takes a lot of adjusting to the room to get it to sound good and denon with the auto setup it works great. Marantz owners seem to not say much I have seen a few get rid of the new 7005 for a 4311 and say the denon sounds clearer and cleaner. So many that seem to have very similar features and stuff I just dont know about so to hear from you with what are things the average person wont know and it gives a reciever an edge over another things like that will help. So tell me what would you do now with my stuff and money wont matter but not looking to buy something that I pay for things I will never use as a average person looking for something to just sound really good and not have to spend months with crazy adjustments to get it all setup so I am happy. I will take time and tweak it I just dont want to be doing it every time I turn it on as the center seems to not be loud enough with this movie vrs this tv show like I had to with that sr7500 every time I turned it on it seemed. I was never happy with that one and why I turned to the people this time rather than just reading a few reviews and buying a reciever. Thanks in advance for taking the time to one read all this and two help me make for a more enjoyable audio experience in my home. I look forward to reading any and all replys and hope I did all this in the right place and dont uspet someone over being a newbie here.

There wasn't much in terms of instructions in the box, but I have an idea of how to at least attach the brackets to the speakers. I just would like to know what kind of wall mounts could work for these speakers (allowing them to swivel), where I can get them, and how affordable might they be. Thanks in advance for your help.

so my 5th pair of skullcandy ink'd(because I'm cheap like that) died in the cord like all the others and I have decided to buy some better, non ear bud headphones.

my trouble lies in that I dont know what to pick and my budget is 60 bucks, however, I have narrowed it down to two choices, maybe both if i can get more cash.
my options are the Audio-Technica ATH-M30 Professional Studio Monitor Closed-back Dynamic Stereo Headphones(that's a mouthful) and the Sony MDRZX300/BLK Outdoor Headphones. Their respective prices are $42.99 and $23.68 on amazon and they both have great reviews. If I were to get the ATHs (which have almost completely positive reviews from people who know what they are talking about) I wouldn't want to wear those around willy nilly, but mostly use them for when I am at home playing with sound design. I have owned a pair of sony MDR V150s before and they had good sound, though not the best, and all of the reviews for the MDRZX300s are very positive, however, I'm hesitant to judge the knowledge of the reviewers since they are constantly saying things like "These headphones are better than Beats by Dre" because in all honesty, Beats are the apple of the headphone world, far to much money for something that isn't that amazing, however, the Sonys cost lest than the Audio Technicas. Which headphones would you guys suggest?

Hi All - I am a new member need urgent help of the experts here.

I am finishing my basement and wanting to create a home theater room, nothing fancy in seating etc.. its 110 inch painted screen on the wall with black wood trim to get the look.

I am unable to decide on the speaker system and receiver. I do not have budget to go fancy or extra ordinary. I was looking at BOSE 5.1 at costco for 1,200/- which comes with Pioneer VSX receiver.

After reading the posts here, I think I better go for in wall speakers NON BOSE and 7.1 receiver. I need help from your experts on what I need to buy - in Wall - Side,in Wall Center, surround and Subwoofer systems and the receiver - so that I can be within budget and gain quality in sound. I don't want to spend more than 1.2 to 1.5 K for home theater.
I also need suggestions on the Projector - I am thinking about $500 to $800 should do it right ? - If you can be kind enough to suggest me models and where to buy that will be a great help...

I used to have ONKYO 7.1 in my apartment and I used to like- that's the reason for 7.1 - if you suggest 5.1 that's fine too..

FYI - I have a 9 feet basement - if makes any difference.
Please help me - as I am no expert - Need your HELP !!! If you can be kind enough to suggest me models and where to buy that will be a great help...

It has been "smoked" in a literal sense 3 or 4 times in total and 2 of these times while I owned it.
By smoked I mean smoke came out of it and another thing broke.
This last time was the final straw, it supposedly got "red" on the inside and smoke came out.
Now it turns on and none of the speaker ports work.
Before this it was working on 2 of the 8 ports so it was already screwed.
So since now it is done I would like to know if it would be worth it for me to pay for it to be fixed.

Howdy,

I'm trying to finish planning my home theater while I wait for the projector to come back in stock (ViewSonic PJD7820HD). I am trying to decide between buying a boxed 5.1 surround sound system with speakers, sub, and receiver (prob a $300 set from Yamaha or Onkyo) or using some of my vintage speakers and buying a receiver, center speaker, and sub-woofer.

I really don't have more than $300 to spend on everything, and would prefer to spend closer to $200...

I'd like to have at least 4 HDMI inputs (cable, roku, xbox, blu-ray) and 3d capabilities.

My speakers are all large bookshelf speakers from the 80s. 2 Bose (901's I believe) and 2 Sony speakers. All work great.

Thoughts? Recommendation for receiver, sub, center speaker?

Thanks a lot!

I have a Qinpu A3 integrated tube/solid state amp. 8 watts per channel into 8 ohms. Great sound with my Mirage OM 10 towers. Had to box them up until I can build a dedicated listening room in my next house because a pet decided it likes to climb on them. Need to find a replacement pair to use until that time comes. Speakers cannot have a full cloth covering or grill covering the full front of the speaker. Wood finish won't attract the cat from what I can see since it did not mess with my Castle Conway 3 towers at all. But the design of that speaker does not work well with this amp and the Midrange is gone. Mushy to say the least. Damping factor comes into play here according to a friend with considerable experience in electronics.

I'd like to find a speaker that is similar to the OM 10 and that is why I purchased the Jamo pair. Neutral sounding but with a hint of warmth. I am thinking that something like the Jamo E660 might be good and I've seen a used pair for sale recently at a reasonable price. Might try another pair of C603 Jamo's or maybe the C803 if I can find them in the Dark Apple wood finish.

Phase Technology interests me as well. Auditioned a pair of V-4 bookshelves at a local store and they are quite similar to the Mirage OM series. Spacious sound stage and neutral sound. Less warmth than the Jamo speakers.

I've seen that the Martin Logan Motion 10 and 12's are on closeout. Ruled out the Motion 12 because it has a full front grill and will likely attract the cat to use as a scratching post. The Motion 10 while inferior does not have the full front grill and might work if I can determine that the cat likes the grills or socks of the speakers and not the black color of the wood. Don't want to declaw if at all possible since it goes outside.

I just purchased a Topping TP21 amp which is a small 25 watts per channel into 4 ohms integrated amp. Apparently has tube like sound but with the integrated circuitry.

http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=310-310

Since the Martin Logan's are 4 ohm they should work well with this amp. Probably not good for the Qinpu A3 though and I need at least a 6 ohm speaker and probably 87 or 88 db sensitivity to work well with that amp.

So, in the market for two sets of speakers right now. One pair for each amp.
