Im a big fan of everything A/V and just bought my first projector!!
It an entry level Epson EX3212..The colors are nice and vibrant and picture quality is pretty good, for what it is...The problem I'm having is this checkerboard pattern in the background...Is this normal??..Am I sitting too close (10ft away)??..am I not setting it up correctly??
I am using the HDMI input, from a blu ray player and a cable box, but the pattern never goes away, even on the menu screen!!
I don't have a screen yet, so its just on the wall..I put a piece of white paper up to see if it would get better, and it got worse (see pic)
Will buying a screen make it all go away??
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

So after waiting a month since purchasing, Amazon finally canceled my order for the Acer H6510BD projector I wanted. They don't seem instock at any other big store, but SeaBoom and PrintSavings both have them in stock, anyone have experience with them?

Anyhow, Amazon will cut me some slack if I decide today what I am going to do. Basically, I am left with three options in my mind (feel free to add more!) and need help deciding.

1. Buy the Acer H6510BD from another retailer that I don't know much about

2. Buy the ViewSonic PJD7820HD projector from a big retailer

3. Buy the BenQ W1070 from Amazon

The projector is going to be used in a bright-ish room (windows on one side) with a ~12-15ft viewing distance on a 120 FAVI screen (which I have already mounted).

The main reason I wanted the Acer H6510BD was for the 3,000 lumens and the 2D to 3D in-projector conversion, something I can't find in another sub-$1,000 projector that is 1080P.

Please help me make the decision!! What are your thoughts?!?!

I was able to get ahold of one of these projectors at a relatively cheap price on Craigslist. The bulb only had about 5% bulb life left. I ordered a new bulb from Newegg (one of their resellers). I have two issues.

1. The bulb from Newegg claimed to be an original lamp. It doesn't say OEM so I wasn't really sure. I received the lamp and nowhere does it say Sharp, so I really wonder if it is a OEM bulb (Search Newegg dot com for product # 9SIA2780P93306).
2. My real issue is that I swapped out the bulb with the new one purchased from newegg and tried to turn on the projector and couldn't get any power. I read the owner's manual and it says you have to reset the lamp hours via holding down a handful a buttons. I tried this and still no go. I decided to put the old lamp back in and it also will not allow me to power up the projector.

Any ideas on why this could be happening?
