I recently got one if these in a trade for a $50 Android tablet. The bulb was a little dim but the picture was pretty good. It came with a cheap $45 replacement bulb. I decide to go ahead and put hat one in and keep the old bulb for a backup. In preparation rest the bulb timer and when I clicked OK, the old picture actually brightened up. I checked the picture settings and they hadn't changed.

Does anyone know if these TVs have some kind of voltage regulation to the bulb based off of the hours on the bulb?

I went ahead an added the OEM and sure enough it blew about 16 hours in. Not surprised. Ordered two Panasonic factory replacement for $100 each. Figured the TV was basically free, doesn't hurt to be prepared.

Also does anyone know about good sites with DYI cleaning instructions. I noticed after I got it home it looks like there might be a little dust got knocked loose. There are a couple of faint fuzzy spots that weren't there before.

Hello all,

Hello all,

I have a Samsung 6163W DLP that keeps turning off, let me be clearer about that, the screen goes blank! The set stays on, The Lamp stays lite! The Lamp lite is NOT blinking, all is ok there. I turn off the set, wait for the lamp to shut down and then turn the set back on and it comes back on. It might only work for a few minutes or an hour; it’s completely random on when it goes blank.

Once and awhile I’ll get a hint before it goes blank, I’ll see some digital type of noise on the screen for a split second maybe a few times and then it goes blank.

I did change the lamp, not for this problem but, that it was getting old.

The color wheel was changed awhile back, the Door safety switch is jumped, the Thermistor switch is jumped and it’s not the IR input. So it’s not the common fixes I read about on the forums.

I have taken it completely apart, blew it all out, and reset all the connectors also.

I am leaning towards the main board.

I am technical and have equipment any help on checking signals or wave forms, voltages or whatever would be appreciated very much.

Thanks
Turned on today same thing, But after i hit the power, the light blinks faster the second time, tv shuts down but light stays on. If i hit the power it repeats the faster blinking and shuts down every time. The bulb has gotten dimmer. I think its three years old.
