Default Dish Vip722 audio issues

Does anyone else have the problem of the HD channels audio does not match the picture. Its like watching and old kungfu movie. I have tried rechecking all my connections, reseting the reciever as well as checking all the settings in the audio section of my LG 47lh90 tv. Any help would be much apriciated as i cant stand this. I am considering ditching the Dish service just becauseof this prolem. I know it is the Dish reciever/service as i dont have tis problem when viewing any other source.

Not necessarily a Dish problem, per se but a HDMI HDCP issue. Have you contacted LG about a firmware update for your TV? Also, have you tried using the optical digital output from the Dish box to your TV for audio?

I just solved an issue just like this yesterday with a customer...

Simply go to Menu, 6-1-7, it should bring you to a TV1 Audio Sync menu, from there select HD Programming, and select done, then do a Front Panel Reset ( press and hold power on the front panel of your receiver for 10 seconds)

That should solve your audio sync issue, if not then you might wanna call tech support

but either way, let me know what happens

Loves2Watch: It cant really be a hdmi issue as i had this before with my old tv and that was connected via component video and the old school red/white rca for audio. It seemed to get better over time and evenutally went away. Now with the new tv and the HDMI it is is far worse. So i think it has to be relatred to the reciever. I will have to see if the tv has an optical in as i dont remember seeing one back there. I thought i saw an out but not an in.

AcuraKidd: i have done that alreayd man. Thanks for the idea but unfortunately it did not work.

Any other idead would be great.....

It is a HDCP handshake issue so, try rebooting the box a few times and if that does not solve it, unplug the Dish box from the wall for 10 minutes, plug it back in and that may correct it.

I'm assuming that you got your problem fixed. But I'll post the resolution I discovered with the assistance of an advanced tech at Dish.
I have the same TV (47LH90) and am using the VIP622, but the resolution should be the same.

Menu - 6 (Installation) - 7 (Dolby Digital)
Select settings: "PCM Only" and "RF Mode"

Audio has been spot on since then.

Actually no i did not get it fixed. I have given up and am droping my dish service. Not just for this problem though. There have been other issues over the course of my contract. I have just decided to not keep the service when my contract runs out at the end of this month. I will try your suggestion and see if it fixes the problem though. Thanks for the psot i do apriciate it.

Have you ever, in the course of problem solving solutions, unplugged your dish receiver from the wall for 1/2 hour then plugged it back in?

This issue just happened to me regarding this last Thursdays Fringe episode on channel 66 fox station as I DVR'ed it as I do everything so as to bypass commercials...This has happened to me in the past as well and always on a local channel so I don't think its a reciever or wire issue...I just hope it don't happen this Friday as Dollhouse returns...

As far as viewing it, I just go to fox.com and watch the screwed up episode off there website as I have a 1GB video card and HD moveies/tv shows look awesome on 18.4 laptop

Errors and sound issues will happen, nothing is perfect

There are a lot of reasons for audio not to sync, and a lot of times it has nothing to do with the DVR. Someone mentioned Fringe audio problems, this was a network issue as I noticed audio out of sync watching through antenna, which I don't have hooked through the DVR.

There is a tech portal for sync issues though, best thing is to check and make sure your DVR software is up to date with what's posted on DN's site, along with proper settings. I think I had some sync issues at first, but they completely went away with software updates. Gotta leave the DVR plugged in for it's nightly downloads.

Shows on FOX still have sync issues, but that's due to the local affiliate, as it happens over antenna as well.

Default LH90 audio sync problem - from LG tech support

LG says that they have firmware to fix the problem - has anyone tried it? - This is online chat from LG tech support:

Amanda: Hello Wade Artigue. Welcome to LG Electronics! How may I provide you with excellent service today?

Wade Artigue: Hello, I am looking at purchasing a 47LH90 today or tomorrow before sale ends. I have heard issues about lip sync. When will firmware be out to fix problem?

Amanda: Let me see what I can do to assist you with this.

Wade Artigue: Also, what inputs are affected?

Amanda: If your unit experiences an issue with lip sync, we do have firmware to correct it. It is the HDMI input that is affected. Not all of the units have this issue.

Wade Artigue: Is firmware available for the 47LH90?

Wade Artigue: Is it an affected model?

Amanda: It is not every unit that has the issue.
Amanda: But we do have an update if you experience the issue.

Wade Artigue: Not all of the 47LH90's or is the LH90 affected?

Amanda: Not every LH90 has the issue, but if your unit does, we have a fix.

Wade Artigue: How do I get the firmware if it is required?

Amanda: You will call into LG and we will send it to you.

Wade Artigue: Thank you for your help. How long it takes to receive the firmware - Is it available for download?

Amanda: The firmware ships right away.

Wade Artigue: OK, thanks and have a great day.

I just bought the same TV, and got the same DVR. I too am seeing the audio sync issues. Seems very prominent with TNT & TBS. I originally had a $20 cable, and then bought a $99 one. Thought that worked at first, but it seemed to come back.

I did call LG, and they are shipping the firmware out. Anybody else try this yet? Have any of the above solutions worked for anybody. I got the TV for $1399, and feel that was a great deal, but I don't want to watch poorly dubbed movies all my life.
