Default What dish is needed for HD

I have a dish that says Super Dish on it. It has 3 LNBs on it. Only 2 of them are connected to my 522. On the cover that is over 2 of the LNBs(only one of which is connected to my receiver) is printed HDTV. I called to upgrade to HD and the installation tech said I would need a different dish. Anyone have any info on this?

You will need what’s called a western arc dish (1000.2) It look at all three satellites (110, 119, & 129) needed to received all of the HD channels plus your local HD. It should take no more than a hour or two to complete the upgrade.

Many years ago I had the old Dish 500 antenna with 110 and 119 satellites. Last September I bought a 40" LCD, and needed to get a D/N 1000.2 antenna, thinking this was "tight up town" with the best of the boys. That didn't work out so great, as my HD quality wasn't the best with all three...110, 119, and 129. So, I did some thinking and came up with this set-up. I kept the old D/N 500 antenna, and installed it some 10' from the 1000.2 antenna. Taking some aluminum foil...folded three thicknesses, and a section of inner tube (bicycle) and cut it so that to fit over the satellite 129 LNB, and using plastic ties to secure it so it wouldn't come off. With that I moved (antenna) so the signal from 110 and 119 was stronger for my regular satellite viewing. With the Dish 500 with a Dish Pro Single LNB, and cabled so it connected to the out on the D 1000.2 side and down to the VIP211K receiver.

Results.. I have all my HD channels coming from the old Dish 500, and have a much better signal quality.
