Default DirecTv satellite with Dish Network?

I'm buying a house that has a DirecTV dish already on the roof. Is it possible to use this satellite with the Dish network service? Or do I need a satellite from Dish. Before you ask why, I'm looking at using Dish as they have cheaper packages.

You really need a Dish Network dish but I would think they could use the mount that is already attached...

If you call to install Dish Network, they will bring the proper equipment.

The older legacy technology by both was compatible, but in the last 5 years or so both have gone off in different (incompatible) directions.

There was a spam post there that just repeated what I said and I can't delete the post. I was referring to that. Obviously it's not there now. And actually I DO have patience.

Thanks for the other replies.
