I am looking for a step by step on setting up a VIP222 receiver and a 1000.4 Satellite.
I purchased a second antenna and want to be able to take the receiver from my house to my camper and back. About all I know is my Azimuth, Skew, and Elevation from the chart as well as keeping the mast level. I am looking for 61.5, 72.7 and 77 and I am a novice at Dish Net Work. I previously had Direct and easily found the satellite signal with just the receiver and no extra meter (totally different direction). Can I use the signal meter on the VIP222K? I don’t understand check switch. Do I need to clear out the house check switch to move the receiver to the camper and will this also need to be done when moving back? |

Aiming a dish is pretty much the same on Dish and Direct once you have the proper coordinates. If you are using a different type of dish (not sure if you are since you did not state what dish is on your home), it is probably good to run the check switch without any coax connected to the receiver before aiming. If it is a different type of dish or only one has a switch then yes, you need to run a check switch when moving the receiver from the home to the rv and again when moving from the rv to the home.

Both antennas are the 1000.4 Dish Turbo. I was afraid to clear the check switch because I didn't know if the antenna would work at home after the check switch change. With direct there was no check switch, just point and use the signal meter on the receiver.

Then I should have a signal on the tv screen with proper Azimuth, Skew, and Elevation? Tripod mast is also level (sits on a tripod for RV use). I am tied to the #1 coax terminal on the LNB. The 1000.4 book lists EL-42, Az-187, Sk-86. My house antenna is a couple of degrees different from these settings so I also tried the house settings. Still no luck.
