Default LOGO HD not in HD

I know it isn't just me, or is it, but is DISH pulling a fast one and putting the SD LOGO in the platinum package rather than HD.

A tech told me they couldn't say it was in HD if it wasn't, but they did, and it isn't.

I have checked every listing of every show from now through June 1 and not one show is listed as being in HD.

The platinum package is pretty much a rip off as it is, but for this channel I decided to go for it since the first three months are free. None of the CRs know what's going on, but isn't that always the case.

Anyone know the deal on this, or does anyone but me even care?

not all hd channels deliver hd content all of the time (i don't understand why). the hallmark channel is only beginning to deliver some true hd content, for example.

Default Either or

It's is a question of, what do you do first when you operate a channel. obtain high definition programming or the ability to deliver high definition programming? Most choose to get the ability to transmit first. This is particularly true of those that produce very little of their own content and rely on older content that was taped in 3 by 4 SD. In any case, Dish isn't trying to pull a fast one. By the way The CSR's or anyone else at Dish Network aren't the ones responsible for lack of HD programming on LOGO, That honor belongs to the folks at LOGO.

I would think putting it in the platinum package allows dish network to require those who want the channel to pay extra, instead of putting it in a standard tier package and having to pay for subs who aren't watching it. same with channels like betJ. But having it in the HD package gives you a better picture, even if it is SD programming.

First of all, the picture isn't better. Secondly, a channel that exists solely as an HD channel, like HDnet, makes darn sure they can prodcast in HD before they go on air. A channel that exists as both SD and HD, like sci fi, makes darn sure they can prodcast in HD before going on air as well.

LOGO has been around for 4-5 years or longer. Their first HD broadcast was April of 2008. DTV has carried this channel for 3-4 years. Checking their website they do not have LOGO HD, and DISH only has it listed in HD.

I do not believe there is a channel called LOGO HD. Either DISH is pulling a fast one, or LOGO is, and DISH needs to get to the bottom of this. I'm just trying to get someone who can do something about this to listen.

Not only is there not one thing being broadcast in HD on this channel, but the channel logo, which is on 24/7, says LOGO, not LOGO HD.

Since the tech csr said they could not say a channel was HD if it wasn't, I went to the FCC site to try to report it, but all it has there is news.

I also find it suspect that when I e-mailed LOGO about this I got no reply, so the problem might be with them, but then DISH needs to quit paying them a higher premium than they would for an SD channel, which is what I assume they do.

Also, to the person who said he doesn't care, if that were true, why would you read this post in the first place and then feel compelled to answer?

Another thing, I just googgled "The LOGO HD channel", and got no hits. If I do it without the quotes, I get thousands of hits, but all for logos that are in HD. There is no such channel as LOGO HD, and now I am thinking about going back to DTV.

nabuch,
You are making yourself sound like an idiot on here. If you don't think DTV doesn't do the same thing, then you are sadly disillusioned.

Here you go....
5307 - TMP45 [MPEG4 HD] added to Ciel-2 129W TP 27 ConUS beam (NA)
5307 - TMP45 [MPEG4 HD] added to EchoStar3 61.5W TP 27 ConUS beam (NA)
5307 - TMP45 - Ciel-2 129W TP 27 ConUS beam renamed to LOGO (A) (H)
5307 - TMP45 - EchoStar3 61.5W TP 27 ConUS beam renamed to LOGO (A) (H)

So they are HD channels whether or not they are showing HD programming.

All providers supply what they are given, they may tweak the signal a bit but they cannot change sd channel to an HD channel. The blame is on the channel not the provider.

Howdy guys...first post here.

I have to agree with the OP that something is a little off in the way Dish did this. I, too, have looked high and low for any reference to Logo being broadcast in HD, and I can't find anything.

I don't have Dish anymore (I actually dropped it awhile back because they DIDN"T carry Logo), but I would be pissed if I had to pay an extra $10 a month for Platinum HD when all the other providers put the channel in their base second tier packages.

I dunno, perhaps there is an agreement with Viacom for Dish to be the first to carry Logo in HD. But if that's the case, then why isn't Dish trumpeting that fact?

Find any HD channel that is showing SD programming, and if it has an SD channel also on DISH, check the picture quality between the two.

It is definitely better.

That is true about an HD picture being better to an SD picture, which proves the point that LOGO HD is not in HD. The picture quality cannot be compared to LOGO SD, because there isn't any to compare to; however, compare it to any non HD programming on an HD channel, and you will see how inferior it is.

Also, I just want to clarify that I do not know who to blame, but I really think it is LOGO. Just because they showed one broadcast in HD 13 months ago does not make them an HD channel, or at least it shouldn't.

If DISH is paying more for this channel than if it were SD, than I think they would want to straighten it out.

I originally posted here just hoping someone would know something, like starting June 1 LOGO will go full HD, or some other explanation. If DISH has 13.5 million customers, than my very conservative estimate would be 500,000 people who want this channel. My post has gotten a lot of views, so people do want to know what is going on, but nobody really knows, and I guess DISH doesn't care to tell us.

Because as with most companies, Dish is not going to advertise to the masses of their customers about the gay channel. If they had a way to identify and target only their gay customers, I'm certain they would. But I would think they're not going to risk "offending" (big time ) their customer base by telling EVERYONE that the gay channel is now available. Similar to how American Airlines doesn't advertise for their LGBT specials in their normal emailings or advertising.

I don't know that there are any DISH executives or even employees that post here. I wouldn't expect to see them here at HDF responding to this thread. But like I said, I don't frequent this section of the forum as I'm a U-verse subscriber myself. So I could be totally off-base about there being any DISH employees here. I was just excited to see that if Dish has Logo in HD, then maybe U-verse will soon too.

LogoHD just does not have any HD programs at this time.

When Dish first launched WFN, that did not either, then it slowly began to show a few shows at first, then some more. People thought that was fishy in the beginning too.

What about MTV, VH1, CMT, LMN and a few others. They seem to start very slow then add as time goes on.

If you ask me, Voom was great! That was real HD. It's been gone for over a year now and I still miss it. Hopefully MonstersHD is just undead and will rise again from the grave. The same goes for RaveHD. Then all you newer HD people will see what real HD could be.

All any of us can do now is just sit back and wait. Yeah, it does $ucK.
