My plasma is High Def.

I had about 60 hours of programming recorded on my 510 receiver when it suddenly deleted all recordings today. The Dish "tech rep" had me go through all kinds of attempted recovery routines w/o sucess. Could be an equipment failure but I could sure use any suggestions. I'm sure I can get an equipment upgrade since my receiver is old but I hate to lose an entire season of "Damages" and a bunch of movies>

Chances are the recordings are gone, but it does not mean that you need to replace the receiver. This has happened plenty of times and not be due to hard drive failure. It could have been a one time occurrence and your receiver may work fine for a long time without another incident.

I have had the same thing happen to me and it is very frustrating.
When I called tech support, they told me that it may be due to "voltage variations", and suggested that I plug the DVR directly into the wall (as against using a power surge protector). I did that, but occasionally I still had the same problem. Now I have a 722 and have not experienced the issue, but I've only had it for a few weeks. |

Anyway, I've saved some recordings on my Dish DVR that are over a year old so I don't think there's a 6 month time limit or anything. |
