Apparently, this new software update is a gradual rollout starting August 1. It does not get out to everyone on the 1st, but you should have it within the first two weeks of August. The new HD channels are up, but that does not have anything to do with the update. You will know you have the update if you are getting channel 501. If you do not have it yet, then you have not yet been updated (assuming you have a capable receiver).

Well according to Dish website it says all current customers had the update installed Aug. 1st nothing about it being a gradual rollout.

I have 250 + gold, I would have to pay $10 more a month to get Platinum HD, I might do it.

Default I can't get channel 501, either

Just spent about 45 minutes with Dish support and they couldn't figure out why I was not getting channel 501. They didn't say another about gradual roll outs. They thought I should be getting it. She was stumped and passing on the issue to another department.

I also called tech support and they had me do a check switch and asked what the current software version was ( L512 ) and a few other things. Well still no ch. 501
I think there was a problem with the download.

pretty lame that DISH is somewhat shrugging off us loyal subscribers, but with gas prices lately... VOD vs Blockbuster for 1080P content is a deal IMO. and of course you cant download it to your harddrive and "buy" it for $5. Get with the times, blue ray sales would plummet. It gives you just enough time to watch the movie at your convenience and save some gas money.

They do not really say anything about it, but this does, in fact, appear to be the case from what I have been able to dig up on other forums and through talking to Dish Network. It seams they started with VIP722 models. Take a look at your current software and if it says L610 then it has been updated.

I'm still L512...then again I have a 622.
I feel so unfortunate
