Default Can you get your local weather on the weather channel?

I like the local on the eights, but dish network only gives you the whole country not your local area. Is there a way where you can get your local on the eights or not?

Unfortunately No, that was one of the first things I missed when switching over to DISH. Do you receive over the air local stations? It is very common these days for them to have a secondary "local weather channel" that they broadcast along side their primary channel. This is how I get most of my local weather, especially live radar. This is your best bet on satellite.

Push the "dish" interactive button on your remote. Click "yes" and after it loads, arrow down to the "news" section, then click on "twc". This will load your local weather update with temp, forecast, radar, etc. The radar is a little small, but it gets the job done.

I did that. IT did not get the job done for me. My OTA digital channels have local weather on 6.1 & 8.1. That is quick. But the best info is at weather.com.

Actually somebody passed the name of a weather website that i believe is better and more accurate than weather.com or the weather channel. Weatherunderground.com

Call a local Retailer. And, we'll check your receiver in the store for free. If you can reach your LNBF, we'll check it for free too!!!!

For me its:

weather.noaa.gov

Simple text forecast, nothing all that slick, although if you know what you're looking for, you can get radar images, GIS data, etc.

As for the .com sites, and weather channel in particular, I have a hard time getting the forecast from a group that stands to profit from sensationalizing the weather to entice more viewership -- yeah, that makes me weird, I know.

It works for me, I don't know why it wouldn't work for you unless thay don't offer it in your area. It is a dish interactive thing that I thought all customers get?????

I just loaded up my local weater from TWC. I live in NW Illinois. The radar picture is showing SD, ND, WIS, Minn and Iowa. My weather usually comes in from Iowa & Missouri. I also like to watch the map in motion so I can see if the storms are coming towards me or not. I do watch national TWC in the morning. And it is not just because Heather Tesch is on. LOL

Exactly. This was the point of the original poster. He was wanting to get local on the 8's, which gives you radar and map in motion of your local area, not the entire southeast or northwest or whatever. The little DISH interactive radar is not very good.

And to all the website links, that is good to know, but I think the original poster wanted a way to get local on the 8's on the TV without having to go get online to view weather. But good info nonetheless.
