Default Dish VIP 622 Not working on my second TV!!!

I have had the Dish VIP 622 for 2 years without an issues. Unfortunately, a week ago, the second television on this receiver went snowy. I have tried to reset the system both hard and soft with no luck. I spent over an hour with Dish customer service without any solutions. I have searched the internet and these forums but have not found similar problems. Is it possible that the 2nd tuner can be out of commission? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have the insurance warranty that they offer. I have it and they replaced my reciever and it didn't cost me anything. Also you might want to try some other output from the sat box just to see if it is a wire or connection problem.

Are you sure you have the second tv tuned to the right channel (usually 60 or higher)? You can check the channel # in the menu on TV1.

I am not sure if I have the insurance, that is why I would like to see if any of you are brighter than their technical support team. They went through all the steps with me with 2 different people and we got nowhere. One guy kept asking me "how do you know that the bedroom TV is running off your 622?" BECAUSE IT HAS FOR 2 YEARS! Then he says, "what evidence do you have?" What an idiot. Anyways, I have made sure it is on the right channel (77) and that it is matching in the modular setup. So, that does not seem to do it.

Do you have a smaller tv or can find one to borrow?
Hook it up direct from the 622 at the 622 location.
If it works there , you may have a bad cable or a bad diplexer to the BR.

Call a local Retailer. And, we'll check your receiver in the store for free. If you can reach your LNBF, we'll check it for free too!!!!

Check the info screen to make sure that the setting for tv2 has not changed and also check to see if the problem is not with your tv's tuner. You could also check the coax run as the line could have broken or the ends became loose or corroded. You can check this by running another cable to the tv or hooking something else (such as a vcr) next to the tv and see if the tv2 signal goes to that.

I changed the diplexer at the receiver with the one I have in my other Dish receiver. This did not change anything. I have tried running coax here and there all day to get an idea what the problem is. I have made no progress (but have not caused any other problems, surprisingly). There is another diplexer outside the house (is this correct) that has the satellite coax coming in on the two connection side, coax going out to the bedroom TV on the same side, and then the coax going into the house to connect to the 662 on the single connection side. Could this need to be replaced? Is this the same as the one at the receiver or is there a special one for outside? If I hook up a TV right at the 622, which cable do I run to the TV. There is a mess of coax back there.

Yeah, that was one of the things customer support had me working on. I have now tried hooking a small TV directly to the TV2 line coming out of the 622. I tried a new Diplexer outside as well hoping that was the problem, and that did nothing as well. I am now running our bedroom TV off of my second dual tuner receiver and it is working fine.

I then thought, what if I record to TV2 from TV1, would that work? So, it did record as I was watching a different program. I am able to watch what was recorded so does this signify anything? I am able to record to TV2 but not watch it????

They should actually list the recording section as tuner1 and tuner2 as it has nothing to do with viewing on TV1 or TV2.

The outside diplexer is the one at risk - in the weather!!
TV2 test at receiver location - home distribution port direct to tv2.
this will tell you if the tuner is okay or not.

Well, hooking the TV directly to the 622 out of the tv2 port did nothing. I did the same on my other receiver and the TV worked fine, so it must be the 2nd tuner. Has anyone ever heard of the 2nd tuner just shutting down? Obviously I can record on the 2nd tuner, so why would it not produce audio or video?

622 has three tuners and two outputs.

Sounds like your tuners are OK but your #2 output is not putting out.

Call Dish.

Hi, I'm wondering if you found a solution, or got any resolution from dish on this problem?

I am also experiencing this problem, as well as another person. See this thread on this same forum:

(Sorry, the forum is blocking me from putting full web links here. You will need to paste this at the end of the forum's browser address.)

Also, please include any other forum posts you have found with the same problem.

Thanks!

Hello, I'm the other guy that is having the same issue. I have no resolution though. I gave up and decided to "lease" a 722. I'll put my owned 622 back on line as soon as I get a hold of my spare DP34 switch so I can run all 4 satellite tuners. Gotta use that switch because the new 722 didn't come with a separator like my 622 did; however, the 722 came with an HDMI cable and a component cable set.

Anyhow, I hope someone can come up with the repair procedure to fix the dead home distribution(TV2) port. $450 for he 622 when I bought it 18 months ago and a cheesy little port $hits out on it making it virtually useless as a 2 room receiver, motherf&%&@# BS. Or if anyone actually has DISH send out one of the KidRock lookalikes for a repair, I'm curious as to the solution.

Good luck folks.
