i think this is really annoying that you can't watch live TV while recording something else on one TV
Yes you could watch the recording of Show1 at 8:00.

As I stated earlier many people get another receiver for the second TV which frees up one of the tuners for the main set.

How much does DishNetwork charge to use another receiver? $5/mo?

I believe it is 5 or 6 dollars but well worth it to me.

That is why many use their 622/722 on one TV in single mode.

You have all the flexability without the burden of the other TV blocking what you want to do.

That's it in a nutshell and why I currently have two 622's and one 722 on independent TV's in single mode.

But you can IF you have whatever is being recorded going to TV2.

Here's my setup: I have a ViP722 in one room, which is connected to my main TV via HDMI. I have the ViP722 set to dual mode. If I want to watch two different shows that are on at the same time I will record one show to TV2 and watch the other live. I can still watch the recorded TV2 show later on the same TV.

Having said that, the record feature does not always give me the option of whether I want to record to TV1 or TV2, even if there's nothing already being recorded on either one. It will just record to TV1. I've emailed Dish Network CS and asked them about this and to please make it an option on future application software updates.

I have the SD coax feed going out to another TV in a different part of the house so I cannot put the ViP722 in single mode without running into conflicts. I did this once and my wife suddenly yelled from the other room that I was changing her channels from what she was watching. Hey, that could be fun.

I also have a ViP211k connected to the 2nd TV that I just converted over to a DVR with an external 750GB HDD. I did it mainly for the HD signal instead of the SD that I was getting from the ViP722 but the added recording options are nice to have.

If anyone knows how to specify whether to record to TV1 or TV2 whenever I want to record something on the ViP722 without being in single mode I'm all ears. As I said, it gives me this option most of the time, just not all of the time.
