Default Cheapest way of getting out of Dish contract

I was transfered at my job to another state. I have an 18 month contract with Dish and used only 4 months. I have cable now and do not want dish. I contacted Dish and they said for $186 they would cancel the contract. No problem with me, but they said a company VMC Satellite wants $290. Not sure why but don't want to give them anything. Any suggegstions would be appreciated. Thanks

Fourteen months remaining at 13.33 a month is $186.62.
(DISH obligation fulfilled).

However, DID YOU SIGN an additional contract with the RETAILER/installer(VMC)??? If you did, you may still be liable to them.
Check your paper work!! If for sure you did not sign a second contract, do not let VMC apply charges to your Credit Card. And tell VMC you will have any charges removed as fraud charges.
pls ck carefully,

fred

Call a local Retailer. And, we'll check your receiver in the store for free. If you can reach your LNBF, we'll check it for free too!!!!

I thought things like job transfers, especially out of state, relieves you of any obligation.
While 'Dishmover' may make it more convenient it is only a service, not a requirement. You need to look at the contract(s) very carefully as fred suggested.
.....and if you need to contact Dish avoid the usual wait and CSRs, and request to speak to someone in charge at:

ceo@dishnetwork.com

I have found them very responsive but I avoid using that email for every little question rather than abuse it. But your situation should be prioritized!

I would not even mention cable. Why? It only sets up a situation where they can argue about having better service. No one needs to know that.. that's your business if you want to use a coat hanger at your new location. Good luck!

If you call Dish and are a current customer, ask to speak to an "Account Specialist" for issues like this. The front line CSR's know jack crap.

If you have 14 months left then it might be good idea to pay the fee if not able transfer service...

I have 4 1/2 months left on my service and waiting for this stupid upddate of programming to see if they add local HD in Mid Michigan...

If they don't, them I'm switching over to dtv because %75 of my shows are on local...

Latest rumor is Mid March now grrr

Only reason haven't jumped ship at this time is because I still have +40 show dvr'ed that need to watch...

Ofcourse I could Limewire those if need be...

Good luck

He should try to get out of it first. Hell, it's a job transfer. Tell them you had to sell all your furnishings so you would have $ to move.

Of course you can write it off to 'it's only money'...

Thanks for all replys. After talking to VMC Sattelite and reading about them I decided it would be easier to just transfer Dish to my new address. I am to busy and life is to short to argue over TV. I have the reciever and remotes and they will come out tommorow and put a dish in at no charge. Find it hard to believe no charge, but we will see. Will cancel cable tv and just keep the internet. Will miss my cable tv as here in Florida we get lots of thunderstorms and rain and we all know how good sattelite is then.

Well, between the worst storms you should get a superior signal. Yeah, the 'mover' thing has been free for a long time. No gimmick there.. it's a good deal.

You must have found a seperate contract you signed with VMC.
Look at it this way, a free dish move, and you saved hundreds by staying with Dish. And you'll have a BETTER picture!

GL,
fred

The only contract I have is one from Satellites Unlimited Inc, but when I speak to Dish they bring up VMC. I called them and they have me on record. Maybe Satellites Unlimited is part of VMC who knows. But you are correct, the picture is better with Dish. In the end it will cost about $10 more because when I cancel the TV service with Comcast my internet goes up. Oh well, life goes on!

My Comcast internet jumped to $56 after a one year promo ($30) was over.
Now I have a bundled Comcast internet and digital voice phone service for $66. But only use Dish for TV.

If you mount your dish well and shield it as much as possible (i.e. in brick under an eve) I've found that it takes a real frog strangler before I lose my signal.

If you want out of it. You can bribe the installer to tell dish that you have no line of site due to natural obstruction. Im an installer and have never been bribed but have gotten many people out of the contracts that way. Not saying its the right thing to do but it works. Just an idea
