Default DVR 942 for analog recording and up-converting

On the right track here? First off we have a DVR 622, everything about it great execpt one thing so here goes, we live in Ohio 45804 with only one real tv station we can use OTA with a digital signal NBC close by for what we watch. The other network DTV stations are 65 to 75 miles out, which we do get most of the time, but not rock solid all the time like I want. Also close by (less than 10 mi.) we have ABC CBS and Fox all on analog low power and will be (in there own words) for at least into 2010 and maybe longer since there power level does not require them to go digital. We do have R75U antenna for them and get a very clean good analog picture that ain't good enough for me after watching DTV OTA ! So if I put in a DVR 942 we can use the antenna in for analog viewing or recording with a manual timer. Also I can up convert to 720P or 1080i if I connect hdtv or our projector to TV1out with hdmi or componet cables. I hope this setup would greatly improve from using a vcr with analog input and composite video into our projector for an 8ft picture of Nascar on FOX and ABC.

Not sure if the 942 has the appropriate tuner to get analog, but it really would not matter as it as none of Dish's dvr functions are designed to work with analog signals.

Bull. The 942 will do just as you want as I currently own one and am doing just that.

Dish dvr will work with digital/HD OTA, it will not work with analog OTA.

NO, THE 942 HAS BOTH ANALOG AND DIGITAL OTA TUNERS. DISH DROPPED THE ANALOG IN THE 622. IT WILL DO EXACTLY WHAT HE WANTS!

According to the 942 book, Chapter 8, page 60: DVR will not work with all over-the-air locals (ie: analog). I know the 942 has an analog tuner, but the dvr is not made to work with it.

Please remember that I realize we must set up a manual recording by channel, start and stop times, what days etc. for each. I also plan to combine TV2 output from the 622 and the 942 into the same in house distribution wires to other SD tv receivers, that way we can watch our 622 on channel 60 and our 942 on channel 22 or whatever. ok? Believe it or not my wife and I are the only 2 involved in this, we are together on Nascar and football, after that it's everyone for yourself so it takes a lot of options to keep us the happy folks we are.

As I stated in my earlier post, I use my 942 daily to record OTA ANALOG programs.

Are you sure it's analog and not digital sd channels?
