Default Ehternet / phone line for 622?

Hi, I'm upgrading to HD service and they are coming out next friday to install. I'm getting the 622 receiver. Does this need a phone line or internet connection run to it?

The receiver will be in my unfinished basement where there is no phone line. I can run an ethernet line from my upstairs router, (I've already run one ethernet line to my Xbox 360 in the basement) or possibly a phone line down to the location through the ceiling from upstairs...

I'm placing an order with monoprice today, so I'm trying to make sure I get everything I need on one shipment....

You should have one or the other to avoid a 'fee'. There are AC ethernet connection adapters too you might try. Beats running cable.
I like wireless myself.

Why is a phone line/ethernet connection needed? Will a USB wifi adaptor work as well, which I have had with a TiVo to download program information

"Why is a phone line/ethernet connection needed?"

The system connects to DISH daily to see if updates are available.

Of course. I said I prefer wireless. I use a Buffalo wireless adapter with my Dish DVR as well as my HD DVD player.

So if I plug a wireless usb adaptor into the Dish DVR, the DVR can connect to my home wireless network?

No, the usb port is for uploading photos or downloading movies to a pocketdish. You need to use the ethernet connection to avoid the additional charge.

That's true, has to be 'ethernet' not USB.
