Talking n00b question, but a question none the less. lol. Apartment Question.

Alright, I got Dish Network through the Apartment Complex, I got a 811 HD reciever with the 5 HD channels.. I am switching in 5 weeks to the real Dish Network.. lol. With the Satelite on the balcony. But in the end I just want to know how to get the local HD channels with my OTA Antenna. See, the apartment has it where the Cable goes into what I think is the plug where my OTA would go. So, I am stuck. I could use my TV and it is probably what I am going to have to do, but switching and all of that is not appealing.

Thanks in Advance!

Good luck. Ive been on this site for 2 days and have not really got a good response back from my questions. I've tried 2 indoor amplfied antennas from radio shack and neither worked. I believe it all depends on how lucky where you live at. If your able to get the right signal or not. I too have dish network and a plasma tv. All the good games are on local channels. It suks doesn't it. They have some channels which who really cares if its in hd like history, animal planet, discovery..etc. I'd rather have my locals in HD. And dish net. always tells you the same bs. answers...hopefullly by the ebnd of the year. YEAH RIGHT.

Go to www.antennaweb.org, put in your zip code and come back here with the results. We can assist you when you have this information.

It's not that you haven't gotten a good response, it's that you haven't gotten the response you are looking for. I know I, and a couple others, have tried to help you. Getting good OTA reception is not that difficult BUT it's also not as easy as buying an indoor antenna and hooking it up. From looking up your ZIP code, you should have no problems getting your locals in HD with either of the antennas I recommended. Plus you still need to scan for the local digital channels using the indoor antenna you already have to see if you get anything.

It means that you're in the Dallas metro area. Go to Lowes and get a $30 Philips set of powered rabbit ears with a +50 gain and hook that up to your Dish receiver (or TV). You may need to orient the UHF block, etc. Apartments are weird. The antennas tend to work better next to windows. Give it a try. Lowes has like a 90 day return policy or something obscene like that.

I have a 622 and a 211 with rabbit ears, since Dish doesn't carry Austin HD locals. (I hope they never do. I get the guide w/o paying $5/mo. for down-rezzed bit starved channels.)
