Looking for hd channel

Well i live in plano tx and have local channels like 21 and 33 that say available in high deff where available. I was just wondering does anyone have these channels in hd? If so how do you get them or are they just not available in my area? thanks for the info...

Chances are they are local if you have them on Dish. You would need an OTA antenna to get them. If you have them via cable or another suppler, we would need more info to answer.

Well i have dish netowrk with a hd dvr all of which is about 6 months old or less. I get hd local channels in 4,5,8 and 11 but dont get 21 or 33 which say they are available in hd where available but i dont get them.

That's because Dish doesn't have many carriage agreements with non-major local affiliates.
4 is Fox
5 is NBC
8 is ABC
11 is CBS
21 is an independent
33 is CW

There may be some places in the country where channels like 21 and 33 are carried in high def but if so I don't what they could be. They would be listed on this website but I don't have enough time to scour every single local market to investigate.

That being said I DO receive 21 and 33 in HD! I bought a Terk indoor antenna from Best buy and I receive both of these channels HD Broadcasting, I just plugged it in to my 622 and scanned the local channels and voila! I had to play with the direction a little bit to receive all channels but finally found the sweet spot. CW 33 has quite a bit of prime-time programming in HD whereas TXA21 does not. In fact the ONLY thing I have ever seen in HD on 21 are Dallas Mavericks games. Which is great because they are actually HD NET broadcast since Mark Cuban owns HDNET and the Mavericks. Last Wednesday I watched this broadcast instead of ESPN because the PQ was so much better on TXA21.

By the way this also works for KERA 13 our local PBS affiliate. HD programming for this channels comes in great as well. I'm not sure how far you are from the TV transmitters(I believe they are in "the chill", Cedar Hill) but you could try an indoor model antenna and if it doesn't work return it.

This is all just a very long winded way of saying garys is correct and you can receive them via OTA antenna.

I was moslty interested in 33. What is a ota antenna? Is something easy to hook up and install? I'm kinna a newb where all this is consered. Thanks for the info so far...

OTA is an antenna, it will plug right into your receiver if you have the 622 or 722. Extremely easy...

You may be close enough to the towers that an indoor antenna such as a ZenithSilver Sensor would work for you.

All the DFW digitals are UHF except WFAA which is on channel 9.

Input your exact address and zip code into www.antennaweb.org and www.TVFool.com. These sites tell you what reception to expect.

My daughter and son-in-law live down at Waxahachie and they report a scad of OTA digital channels in the DFW area (almost 20 by my count).
