Hey guys, glad I found this site. I tried a search but didn't find an answer.
I have ~80 hours of stuff recorded on my DVR that I would like to save and was just wondering how many hours of recorded programs I can store on a 250GB hard drive? How about a 320GB or 500GB? Also, do HD recordings eat up more space than a SD recording? I have the Dish Network VIP622 HD DVR receiver. Thanks. |

The HD stuff definitely takes up more space (about 3 to 4 gigs an hourish)
It appears as if SD stuff takes up about a gig an hour. Hope that helps. |

I have about 20 1/2 hours stored on my external hard drive using up about 68 GB. Hope that helps.

this external hard drive is great to have, I don't have to pick and choose what HD programs to save anymore
