Default HD Audio Problem

I am unable to take advantage of surround sound on the HD channels because I can't get HD audio ... I just had a dish 722 dvr installed and i can get audio on the SD channels but not the HD (I had the same problem with the 622 although the HD audio did work initially). I can get SD & HD audio if I connect the 722 directly to the TV using the RW cables but using the fiber optic digital cable for audio from the 722 to my avr gives me SD audio only. I have a samsung dlp and denon avr-2106. Any thoughts?

Have you checked the sound settings in the 722? If not, do so and make some changes to see if that corrects your problem.

Check the decoding settings on your receiver. Set the reciever to "auto" if you have such a choice. If not, try different decoders (i.e. Dolby Digital, Pro-Logic, 6.1, etc...) until the audio comes through.
